The Other Side forums - suitable for mature readers! _ Introductions and where to find a guide _ Me

Posted by: Mindsurfer Dec 11 2006, 05:18 PM

Hi
Is this where you post your personal introduction? cause I dont see any other..
I'll post mine here anyways.
Im a 21 years old guy from Stockholm, Sweden with a new found interest of live and all thats in it.
I used to be a hockey player with great changes of reaching the top, but since i didnt wanna spend my days practicing my ass off I started drifting more and more into music and became quite a good guitarist... but I got sick of all the wannabes in that type of profession so I thought I might better get myself a nice and stabile job and became an electrician... when i found out that sucked too I began working on myself and my personality.. Now I am in a great phase of evolving and its scaring, wonderful and educational all in one..
so... im not special in any way or so but i hope i can contribute to this forum just by being the one i've been looking for to be for so long, the one i truly am; ME.

Greetings and Salutations, oh most fortunate of mortals, as you stumble across our small, but impeccably decorated, corner of the Internet.

We hope you enjoy your stay, please keep your arms and legs inside the carriage at all times, the excits are here, here and here, please consider that the nearest exit may be behind you. Thank you.

hah thanks cheese..
I think I'll manage.

Hello Mindsurfer! Hope you have a good time here. Watch out for the pink pocka-dotted flying squirrell that roams this forum in search for fresh blood. He tends to shy away from chocolate and fluffyness. Both of these may be purchased at the end of this hall, first door to your left.

Posted by: syuu Dec 12 2006, 05:46 AM

Yo. Have a good stay. =)

Posted by: Mata Dec 12 2006, 05:07 PM

Hello there!

The reason for the lack of other intros is that until recently there were rules on the board that meant people had to join in with lots of other threads before they could post their own new topics - and for some reason that rule was applied here, even though I couldn't work out why!

Welcome to my forums, have fun!

It does rock, doesn't it? The Invision board software is miles better than the closest competition.

Hi there! Just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Zairarose but I like to be called Rose. I am mature in mind and age and hope I can be of help to others, perhaps by answering your questions, and learning something new.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Rose

Hi Mindsurfer and Rose.

I think I am still new, although I already apparently owe Funked many glasses of alcohol.

Hey, who knew how difficult it was to find things in London?

I am also completely horrible at posting, I am better with IRC.

Posted by: Izzy Feb 8 2007, 12:49 AM

*grabs duct tape* Heya newbies. *duct tapes Zairarose, Blackbeltduck, and Mindsurfer to the ceiling* Whoo, that was hard work. Whoever falls down first gets a prize!

Posted by: zairarose Feb 8 2007, 09:24 AM

I'm free! I win! What's my prize?

R

Posted by: CheeseMoose Feb 8 2007, 01:05 PM

Technically bbd won, as she was the first to get to 10 posts, which was always the criteria for getting free before.

Sorry Rose, as a consolation, have a spoon.

Posted by: bug0112 Feb 8 2007, 01:30 PM

Oooooooh, does that mean I'm finally free then?!?! Phew!

Posted by: Izzy Feb 8 2007, 10:48 PM

Yeah. Unless we give you the uberly sticky stuff. But you wouldn't want that, it's pink and it itches. REALLY BAD.

Posted by: zairarose Feb 9 2007, 12:18 AM

post 9 - really need to fit in folks. Bear with me. lol

Posted by: What? Feb 9 2007, 10:31 AM

Hello

I went to college with Mata and it's his fault I'm here. I've only had an automaputer for a few months so I'm still a bit dazed when I sit at it to do stuff. I've never had the electrical interweb at work so I can only post irregularly. I'm 30 years old, have two kids and live in Croydon, London. I work for Woolies so I get to look at toys all day.

How are you?

Posted by: LadyMcDeath Feb 9 2007, 12:09 PM

I've only known Mata for a few years, but it's still his fault I'm here..
My boyfriend has been around for a little while (Matthew) and I met some of you at Mata's birthday.
Now I've stepped out of the lurking-closet and am officially a forum-type-person - wohoo!

Posted by: CheeseMoose Feb 9 2007, 04:23 PM

Gosh, more new people. Hey to you, have a seat, treat the place as your own.

Posted by: Stardust_Smile Feb 9 2007, 04:55 PM

There's new people!!! biggrin.gif *runs up and hugs you all*

Have fun here!

Posted by: LadyMcDeath Feb 9 2007, 09:11 PM

Yes, hmm, there seems like maybe there was a recruitment event taking place over the weekend...

From what I've seen, people on this forum are all very nice and friendly smile.gif

Posted by: Izzy Feb 10 2007, 12:19 AM

Totally. *huggles the newbies*

Posted by: Mata Feb 10 2007, 01:14 PM

Photos featuring the two new people will be online soon. Mwahahahaha. That is all.

Posted by: blackbeltduck Feb 10 2007, 03:46 PM

Hooray I won!

Wait, does this mean someone will free me from the ceiling?

Anyone? I'm awfully hungry and thirsty up here....

Posted by: Stardust_Smile Feb 10 2007, 05:28 PM

No one ever frees you... Hmmm these newbies do need training don't they? tongue.gif

When you get enough post counts you eventually become too heavy for the tape and then...

*Watches as blackbeltduck falls from the ceiling and lands in a heap of duct tape*

Aye that's what happens biggrin.gif

Posted by: Izzy Feb 10 2007, 09:18 PM

*hands you a pillow* 'Hope that fall wasn't too hard. Drink this and you'll feel better. *gives a some really funky looking drink*

Posted by: zairarose Feb 12 2007, 06:39 AM

"When you get enough post counts you eventually become too heavy for the tape and then..."

How many do I need to have before I'll drop down?
Not too many I hope cause I need a wee. lol

Posted by: zairarose Feb 12 2007, 06:56 AM

I have this 'Warn: (0%)' under 'Gender: Female'. Can anyone tell me what it means?

Posted by: snoo Feb 12 2007, 11:39 AM

You need 10 posts before you become unstuck...

Basically that means you've not done anything wrong, you don't have to worry about it unless you're planning on breaking the forum rules.

*watches you fall from ceiling with a small PLOP!* Yeah, like snoo said, 10.

Posted by: zairarose Feb 12 2007, 02:07 PM

Thanks, snoo, for the info.

Am I free now?

I'm still trying to find my way around.
I have another question.
Under my image it says 'member', others have more personal stuff.
Can I change 'member' to something more personal?
And if so, how do I do that?

Posted by: Daria Feb 12 2007, 02:18 PM

Profile! If you look under "My Controls" you should be able to edit your profile from there.

A belated hello!

Like Becky said you can change it under My Controls, however you need 100 posts before you can have a custom title... until then you'll notice it changes depending on how many posts you have (and will continue to change after 100 if you choose not to change it).

It is neither big nor clever and I definately don't appreciate being called snoop.

Posted by: zairarose Feb 14 2007, 08:32 PM

Sorry, snoo. That was a slip of the finger. lol

Thanks for the info on the guidelines... But I'm not so sure about the being friendly.... I started a daft thread in 'Daft' and got told off by a moderator - I don't really understand why.

Want to throw some light on this?

Posted by: Stardust_Smile Feb 14 2007, 09:51 PM

I'm just taking a guess here but I think it may have been something to do with the fact that you were posting things that people couldn't actively take part in discussing.

Maybe invent a game in the games thread that can be carried on by people? Or try asking a question or starting a "daft" discussion in the daft thread perhaps?

I may be totally wrong but thats kinda what i got from it. Don't worry, you'll pick it up soon and be fine smile.gif

Posted by: zairarose Feb 17 2007, 01:13 AM

Thanks for that. I thought it was okay to post stuff others might find usefull and fun, especially on that board at least. My bad.

I will try to be good honest.

Okay so what is the big topic around here.

I'm a bit of a night owl.

This is like, an everything goes kinda place. There's no wrong, no right. Well, spammy stuff would be a wrong.. I don't think there is any one 'topic'. Just kinda browse through the forums and find topics you like. So if you're into a lot of music, post in some of the music threads. If you want to look at silly stuff, browse through daft. If you can't find anything you like, start your own threads! smile.gif You'll have fun here, I'm sure.
