The Other Side forums - suitable for mature readers! _ Daily life _ Today I'm Craving..

Posted by: syuu Nov 28 2009, 04:49 AM

It's like today I'm wearing, except what you want to eat!

..Sorry. I really do want tacos and margaritas. Badly.

Posted by: Hobbes Nov 28 2009, 10:15 AM

I want to eat a selection of healthy, hunger-satisfying foods, that will help get me through the day.

I am actually eating a selection of unhealthy, heart-attacking foods, because I got up too late to prepare lunch, and have had to resort to what is available at the convenience store near where I work.

Ah well.

Crumpets!!

Posted by: Daria Nov 28 2009, 03:03 PM

Something someone has cooked for me.

Posted by: Yannick Nov 28 2009, 03:26 PM

Pretzels, which my mom promised me we are going to bake ourselves today. They will suck, but I still get to play around with dough. biggrin.gif

That sounds good, I'll take two.

Posted by: gothictheysay Nov 28 2009, 05:24 PM

Yesterday I really wanted Arby's, which does not exist near me where i go to college. I'm with my family in NJ and I remembered there was one nearby, and then my little sister told me they shut down. ;_;

Also, i said i wanted a pumpkin pie for thanksgiving. I came home to delicious pumpkin muffins which I devoured, but I still want that pie.

A lack of responsibility. Also a plate of mozzarella/tomatoes/basil drizzled with good olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Posted by: Yannick Nov 30 2009, 01:22 AM

When I was in the shower I started craving a nice glass of cold ice water. I now have some.

Posted by: Mata Nov 30 2009, 01:37 PM

Whisky, and I have a nice bottle of Glenmorangie sitting at home. I think a couple of shots of that will accompany me through this evening. Yum!

Posted by: Ashbless Nov 30 2009, 04:50 PM

Foccacia bread with balsamic vinegar & olive oil. Fresh from the oven with only enough cooling time to prevent burns.

Rum! Oh look!

..all these alcohol cravings are making my hangover worse. sad.gif
and i think all the vomiting might have ruined my love for mexican food. ..which is no bueno, as i just cooked up burrito fixings by the ton last night.

Posted by: SPEAKERfortheLOST Dec 1 2009, 03:34 AM

^ Really need to work on that whole 'not to excess' bit dearest... you may find it to your liking if you don't have a hangover...

I really want a good cheese steak... a true cheese steak... made with good thin sliced beef and lightly salted... with excessive amounts of cheese...

Posted by: syuu Dec 1 2009, 05:07 AM

moderation and i do not understand each other. wink.gif

and. suuuuuuushi. a joe's special, specifically, which involves avocado, a deliciously tangy-sour sauce, tuna, and tempura shrimp.

Posted by: elphaba2 Dec 1 2009, 05:39 AM

huuuwwwwwaaaaaaAAAANT.

also, any of the following things:
-yogurt
-peanut-butter-and-jam-on-toast
-burrito

this is primarily due to the fact that my sustenance for the week consists of black beans, coffee, some kale, 7 eggs, flour and chickpeas.

Posted by: Yannick Dec 1 2009, 10:40 AM

. Sushi.... thanks Syu. Salmon roll + eel roll + whatever Syuu's having, thanks.

*looks at lunch*
Ham sandwich, a coke, and some grapes. ...Satisfying.. dry.gif

A prawn falafel wrap

Posted by: Mata Dec 1 2009, 01:22 PM

I don't think I have ever craved a prawn falafel wrap in my life, but now the idea intrigues me.

I think everyone else seems to crave more interesting things than me, and I thin Syuu definitely wins the Most Interesting Cravings award.

Also, this thread makes me hungry.

Posted by: syuu Dec 1 2009, 02:52 PM

my demand, pickiness, and variety of food choices occasionally makes me wonder if i'm constantly pregnant but it never grows.

..some fruit loops would be nice.

Posted by: EvilSpoon Dec 1 2009, 04:54 PM

Mahi mahi burrito ughhhhh

Posted by: Daria Dec 1 2009, 06:15 PM

I only had a prawn falafel wrap 2 times! Before that I never knew such combination existed! It is a unique one I reckon! The amazing new shopping centre does them! (WESTFIELD- some of you may know about it). It's actually called something like Labanis, I need to try some of their other stuff! It looks different, interesting and yummy for my tummy! Yeah this thread makes me hungry too!

Oddly, I'm craving a whole pile of steamed vegetables and gravy. Maybe I'm missing a few vitamins and my body is trying to make me pay attention to it!

They say that is why pregnant women get weird cravings - it is their body trying to get the stuff it most needs.

I've got a sore throat so would really go for some mint tea right now...

Snap! But I'll be having clove tea. I bought a huge bag the other day. I couldn't feel my mouth for ages after I drank some the other day, but it did taste kinda minging that strong.

I get that kind of thing fairly often. I usually have quite a low-fat diet (mostly because I cook with fresh ingredients 95% of the time and use chicken or fish for protein) and occasionally I get massive cravings for doner kebabs! I think my body occasionally goes 'GIVE ME FAT!' biggrin.gif

Today I'm craving more exercise again. I've had a couple of days off because I've been really busy, but I've got an hour to myself when I get home. I picked up a book of abdominal exercises a couple of days ago. I always get down on the floor and end up doing the same old set of abs workouts - I know loads more but I completely forget them when the time comes, so now I've got a book to remind me of all the good ones to keep things more interesting. I did a fifteen minute workout using the ones in there and it really ached by the end, which I've not had for ages.

...

And if ever proof was needed that the chemicals released in the brain by exercise can be addictive, then this post is it!

Posted by: SPEAKERfortheLOST Dec 9 2009, 02:56 PM

There actually is new research being done that suggests that one should eat a portion of fat during each meal. This is due to the fact that the body needs a certain amount of base components from fat, protein, and carbohydrates to function properly. If it doesn't receive these components it has to produce them from what you have already - it pulls them from your body's cells. I have taken to eating a relative balanced diet so that I don't have any issues. I don't necessarily eat balanced every meal but I will balance a meal with another later that day or the next one.

I'll edit this post later with the links to the research.

Currently craving either tomato soup or indian--just bought groceries for the first time in weeks and I'm stoked to cook either.

Posted by: Daria Dec 9 2009, 07:46 PM

I got my veg bag today with tomatoes, pak choi, sprouting beans and peas and seeds, broccoli, greens, cabbage... time for STIR FRY!

Posted by: Mata Dec 9 2009, 08:01 PM

Is pak choi that really strong bitter green stuff that looks a bit like parsley? I've never quite worked out whether I like it. It always tends to overpower everything else I'm cooking with it.

No... well, maybe this isn't pak choi? It's a bit like celery but softer, whiter, with less ridges. It was TASTY at any rate.

After work today I fancied doing some baking. So I shall!

(Did I mention my new job is baking and icing cupcakes?)

Posted by: snoo Dec 11 2009, 06:48 PM

Oh MY Gawd, Becky! I demand that you arrange for those to all be in my mouth within the next five minutes or I will cry!

I am queen of fail baking, fortunately moop is quite happy to eat muffins that taste like rocks made from reconstituted poop so I avoid baking unless I'm going to be seeing him!

Posted by: Daria Dec 14 2009, 11:36 PM

I guess there were tears?

I did do some baking. I made banana and poppyseed muffins, covered in melted chocolate and rolled in nuts. Ohh yeah. Nuts.

Posted by: syuu Dec 16 2009, 03:13 AM

green olives and diet dr. pepper. this is not shock value, i am serious. if you haven't noticed, sodium and i are bffs.

Posted by: Yannick Dec 17 2009, 01:05 AM

I've been munching on pickles all day. Haha, I actually just posted "Do you like pickles?" on my friend's FB wall, and she was like "Wtf? ...Yes?" (I'm her Santa, she wants something home-fail. I fail at crafts, so I'm thinking awesome teddy bear + awesome foods I made + whatever else I think of by Friday.)

Posted by: Yannick Dec 26 2009, 12:43 AM

About 12 hours late, but I'm just here to brag about my salmon sandwich + Monster breakfast combo.

Posted by: Eli Jan 9 2010, 01:26 AM

Another bottle of Naked.. Green Machine though, the Protein one tastes of medicine.

Posted by: Yannick Jan 9 2010, 01:29 AM

Dude, chicken. Specifically the chicken from last night.

Posted by: LoLo Jan 9 2010, 03:31 PM

My taco salad.

Posted by: Daria Jan 9 2010, 04:35 PM

Chocolate brownies, good orange juice, more brownies. In fact, all highly calorific food I can think of. Almost end of week one of the diet (it started on Wednesday)... well, half way through week one, and my brain thinks it can trick me into eating things if it thinks about them enough. Instead, I have a baked potato in the oven.

Posted by: elphaba2 Jan 9 2010, 09:14 PM

Damn it all! Now I want mimosas!

Ohmylord, good orange juice + good champagne. Throw in a silk dress and a pretty man and there is the best thing that could ever happen to me in 2010.

(full disclosure: currently wearing falling-apart jeans + little boy's sweater, drinking tap water from a stolen pint glass to soothe the death-beast living in my throat = EXACT OPPOSITE OF ABOVE-DESCRIBED SCENARIO. I'll get there. Eventually.)

I appear to be addicted to my new beau. It's probably somewhere between adorable and nauseating that I'm so happy, but my housemate grins when he sees us together, so I think we've kept it on the 'adorable' end of the spectrum. I guess it's normal in new relationships to be constantly thinking about the other person, but it still feels like a craving!

This is awesome news smile.gif

Way to go, Mata! Hooray for happiness.

Posted by: Mimzzy Jan 10 2010, 09:15 PM

I've been house sitting for the last week and while taking a shower and perusing their various body washes I noticed one that had glitter in it. Of course I said "Ooooo sparkly!!!" Opened it up and it smelled like cupcakes and icing. Ever since then it's been cupcakes.

Posted by: Mata Jan 11 2010, 01:59 PM

LGG?

Mmm... Cupcakes. I've been eating really healthily for several weeks, even losing weight over Christmas (though I'm more going for 'shape change' than 'weight loss') and now I want a kebab and chips!

And yes, I'm a very happy chappy at the moment biggrin.gif

Posted by: Daria Jan 11 2010, 02:26 PM

I very rarely crave cupcakes. I guess comes with the territory of having to bake and ice dozens and dozens of them at a time.

At the moment I crave chocolate brownies. Still.

Posted by: I_am_the_best Jan 11 2010, 08:45 PM

I don't know!! I really want something, but I can't yet tell what. Until then I'm going to eat everything in the house to ensure my craving, whatever it may be, is satisfied. Mmmmmm food.

Posted by: Eli Jan 18 2010, 05:33 PM

I crave some fish and chips. BUT THEIR ARE NONE to be found.. or made.. What am I to do.. :/

Posted by: snoo Jan 22 2010, 06:05 PM

Branston Spaghetti hoops on toast... so I'm going to wander around to co-op to get some!

Posted by: syuu May 21 2010, 02:28 AM

french onion soup. mmmm.

Posted by: Yannick Aug 25 2010, 02:14 AM

Not craving, but eating (couldn't find the other food thread?) chicken flavored Ramen Noodles, with an egg and some half 'n half. This thirty cent (if that) meal is delicious. Warm food = the best thing ever after being way over your head in work, to the point where you don't even have time to eat. Eating this. Then history. Then sleep. Then chemisty. POSSIBLE. (Mostly still "Omg foooood <333")
