The Other Side forums - suitable for mature readers! _ Daily life _ Mata Meet - London 21st December - Bring it on!

Posted by: Mata Nov 11 2012, 08:54 PM

Hi,

This is still slightly vague (depending on whether a doctor decides to break my nose in December) but I'll definitely be in London from around 6am on Friday 21st December.

I'll have travelled all night on the coach and likely be a bit knackered, but does anyone fancy meeting up during the day/evening? Or offering me a place to sleep for a few hours until it gets to a more civilised time (the closer to Victoria, the better) and so I can meet with people later?

What say you all? I know it's the last Friday before Christmas, so likely to be pretty horrible in London, but meeting up for a few drinks would be lovely - I've not seen a lot of you for ages... Was it when I was leaving Oxford?

EDIT: no longer vague - this is definitely on!

Aww shame. My sister will be here for my graduation that week so I'll be entertaining her and if I can manage a trip to London it will probably be the day before that, because I'll most likely be working that evening.

Make it Winchester and I could probably drag her and her boyfriend along before departure for work, and possibly work something out for your crashing needs. wink.gif

I "Should" be able to make that. You're right, London will be horrid. But the pub should be normal. Everyone will be stabbing each other over the last few pairs of novelty socks for their partners rather than being in pubs.

I'll definitely try to make it, last time was a blast.

Edit: Seems a bit too pricey, maybe next time? I wouldn't mind planning a meet for in a few months, maybe April again?

Heya,

you're always welcome to sleep at my place. It is Lewisham though so don't know if that's close enough. there is a train going straight from victoria to here so that's nice.
Just facebook PM me if you are interested, that way I can give you the address so you can google map it and check it out, and give you my number.

I would dearly love to come, but its a tad far for me to make (I appreciate that you are coming from a different country and I should stop my winging).

I'll be working in the day but could do drinks in the evening. I don't think I've seen any matazone people since last crawley sad.gif

Sorry dude, I'll have just moved back to Cardiff at that point. Anyone fancy a Cardiff matameet?

Posted by: Mata Nov 22 2012, 09:50 AM

Lewisham is a possibility, thanks. I'll be arriving at something daft like 6am, so I'm not sure how I would get there for a few hours, and hanging around in central London in late December is not a very appealing plan!

The day of the previous MZ meet in London I arrived at 3AM, that was a nice way to start exploring London when you're on your own there for the first time tongue.gif

So my Christmas Holiday starts from the 21st Dec. I shall be there.

Can't offer a place to crash I'm afraid. Unless that happens to be the coach to Victoria that passes through my neck of the woods? Which seems unlikely...

So it's going to happen right?

Posted by: Mata Dec 9 2012, 03:16 PM

Hi all, yes, this is definitely on.

The surgery on my nose is delayed at least until January, probably the end of February. I'm looking forward to breathing properly - it will be odd to experience what everyone else has had as their normal life. I'm not looking forward to the surgery though!

Anyway... Christmas meet-up! Woo! I'm looking forward to seeing those who can make it out.

Does anyone want to meet up in the afternoon? I'm going to be in London all day. I'm hoping to get a place to sleep for a bit, but after that I have no plans.

You could switch places and do my job for me?

Failing that, I'll be available around 6.30/7...

Posted by: Mata Dec 10 2012, 11:12 AM

I'm really good at faking stuff and looking busy, so I could probably manage that. I was a temp for many years. Some of the jobs worked me hard and were very interesting, but for some others the primary requirement was looking busy for a suitable period until they decided that they had hired you for long enough.

so whats the plan?
