Nyak nyak nyak... I've not listened to that album in yonks. Swimming against the tide of popular opinion at the time, I liked it, though I admit it's not quite on a par with his other works. Whaddaya think of 'Chosen Lords'? Again I like it, even if it is a little simplistic when compared to other 'phex stuff.

And what about The Tuss? I'm going to make a stab at getting that EP, just so i can throw my hat into the 'is it Richard D James, or just another Cornish electro boffin?' ring.

I'm still (STILL!) on the Post Punk comp. It's chuffling brilliant all the way - even the po-faced teutonic cover of 'Sex Machine'. Once my Earth album finally (FINALLY!) arrives though, I'll be all over that like a cosy blanket.

On Monday, I was listening to the highlights of Pope John II's 1982 European tour.

Fo' serious. We mixed it with a classic 90s dance track that I have since forgotten the name of.
Birthday presents are awesome.

Haha! That was awesome! biggrin.gif

Currently listening to Circle Takes the Square, I'm sleepy and hoping loud music will wake me up a bit... also because it is good!

Still listening to lots of Barenaked Ladies, still. Just got a copy of their new album "Barenaked Ladies Are Me" which I recieved as a Christmas present, but it was a special edition 5.1 sound something or other and, long story short, it was a DVD, so I couldn't rip it to my computer or listen to it in the car which kind of deterred me from listening to it all together. Anyway, flash forward to a few weeks ago and I picked it up. It's a good album, but I kind of miss their older stuff... I love "Gordon." It's one of my top five albums of all time. I also really enjoy their later albums: "Stunt" is great, "Everything to Everyone" is brilliant, but I'd like to here some of their older song styles make a return. As it stands, BLAM is good, but a little... mellow. It lost the a lot of the frenetic energy that they used to have. One has to wonder if they are getting more mature or just a little older.

Ah, screw it. It's still a really good album, and they're still my favorite band.

And in other news, I went to the library recently where I raided their classical section. Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, Hindemith, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Vaughn Williams, Ravel. I'm gonna crack into them tomorry.

Pavement day today. 'Wowee Zowie' continues to amaze me with its wonderfullness.

I'm biting the bullet and ordering some Sunn O))) and Boris today. Much as I enjoy my chirpy indie-pop-punk-alt funbasket, I just need something darker. Also got Tuss on order, so I'm going do be like a pig in a place that pigs like to be.

Heart-Shaped Glasses by Marylin Manson.

Before that some freaky song that's like ... "I know that you're parents, are brother and sister, da nannanana nan na, da nanana na na"

Checked out the first CD from the library today. Bela Fleck's (banjo virtuoso) "Perpetual Motion." It's pretty cool hearing renaissance, baroque, and classical pieces on the banjo.

I've yet to sample The Tuss, but everything about it screams RDJ. I'm totally for that, yo.

I have very much been about the new Matthew Dear album, Asa Breed. It's like Davids Byrne and Bowie making an album for Kompakt.

For some reason, Amazon rejected my order for Boris and Sunn O))). This was an unexpected and vexing delay, especially seeing as I got my Earth album on Friday and have listened to little else.

I've never really encountered proper drone before, and it was something of an eye opener. Halfway through 'Teeth Of Lions Rule The Divine' I lost all feeling in my extremities. I sat, gormless, for over an hour, unable to do much of anything. Brilliant. Made my train journey to London go like a flash.

*dares to step foot in this thread to announce*

Today I have been listening to the music from old nintendo games released in the 80s. Top of the list of most played tracks for today comes the tunes from megaman 2 (the best of the megaman games).

Hum along if you remember! smile.gif

Wookiee - the Tuss make a sound that you will find most agreeable. Nice and acidy, with some familiar squelches. If it ain't RDJ, then I'll be very surprised, but I'd actually like it to be a new outfit, as that would be a truly exciting prospect. Highly recommended. So good, it made the sun come out yesterday! But not for long... feh...

Inky, I suggest that you listen to Ruarri Joseph's album. I think it is self titled.

I'm always open to suggestions, Daria. What kind of thing are we talking about here?

In my bag I've got Fall and Tilly And The Wall. Not only does that rhyme, but it's true. You know you envy my ears on the walk home.

He sounds like a happier, more tuneful, English Willy Mason who sings about cuddles being the best thing. He comes from Cornwall and always wears sandals.
Here is a YouTube link for a live take of one of his songs. When he does this one live, he just stamps his feet and gets the crowd to clap along.

Sounds cute, Daria. I'll keep that in mind.

Last night my Sunn O))) & Boris album arrived, so i've had that in my ears all morning. One thing I wasn't expecting was just how pretty some of the tracks would be - 'The Sinking Belle' is absloutely gorgeous, like an intense, slowed-down Mercury Rev.

Good advice Wookiee!

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah was on MTV|TWO earlier and made me remember how awesome he is. When I was doing GCSE art we used to listen to Tim and Jeff Buckley in class, those lessons are good memories and I want to buy Grace but after spending the best part of £100 in London at the weekend and petrol this morning my poor wallet needs a break!

Right now I'm listening to The Postal Service.

These days, I've been listening to "In This Twilight" by Nine Inch Nails. Year Zero (what I've heard of it at least) is amazing. I'm glad Trent put down the Quake for a while. ;D

Also, a whole bunch of Snow Patrol songs. And a mix cd that my girl made for me. biggrin.gif It has A Perfect Circle, Harvey Danger, NIN, Massive Attack, and a lot of artists whose names have escaped me at the moment.

Ha! No it's not! A 40 year old man is not really in the position to make angst, especially when he hasn't developed his sound for the past twenty years.

It's different (the album) than all of his other stuff. I'm glad he got out of that rut: everything he did was beginning to sound the same! smile.gif
I can't wait until part 2! The ARG has run down for a while, and I'm jonesin for more. Trent + ARGs. Who knew?
