We have a bar of posh 70% cocoa chocolate in the cupboard. Every time I eat a few chunks I get a spot on my forehead the next day - those painful ones that you dare not squeeze early otherwise they'll turn into mountains. Dammit. It's too nice to stop eating...

I have gotten out of the habit of flossing ever day. Today I decided to get back to it and when I spit out the mouth wash I use after the flossing there was a 1/3" x 1/3" bit of spinach that came out. That's a pretty big piece of spinach to be stuck in there in the first place, which is alarming, but it's also alarming that I haven't had spinach since last Wednesday.

Erk. That's like carrots in your stomach when you're sick: 'how long have they been there?' wink.gif

I'm pretty sure I'm having a man's time of the month. Spots, oily skin, feeling incredibly low on energy, and on the border of crying as soon as a piece of music swells. It's annoying more than anything else.

Out of curiosity,I've tried looking on the web for research about this because I tend to get this to a greater or lesser degree every month but there's almost nothing out there. The only real literature is from a guy around 2006 whose research said men's hormonal cycles run with a huge amount of cycles: four or five peaks per hour, higher peaks during the morning than the evening, even more variance on a four-to-six week cycle (varying between different individuals) and finally yearly higher levels from around November to April. I'm not sure I entirely trust the data, but there don't appear to have been any other easily locatable studies that support or deny his research. The guy himself did a lot of work promoting his ideas because he was selling a book, which makes me doubt it more, but I've still got the same observable patterns in myself.

I do wonder if it's more that I'm picking up pheromones from my partners - there have been studies into that which suggest it can happen. With one girlfriend I found this effect was so strong that I could always predict when she was about to come on her period several days in advance when even she didn't know. There's definitely something in that.

Bleh.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were that. When you get women who are around each other a lot, their hormones adjust so they are on the same cycle, so why wouldn't it effect a man too? Maybe you're just more susceptible to it. Myself, I've got some passive hormones. When I'm around new women it takes me at least 3 months to adjust, and usually it's my schedule that is the one to change, not theirs. When my mom went through menopause hers became so whacked out, I didn't have a normal cycle until her gyno finally took out her uterus.

Also now, even though she doesn't have internal lady parts, she's still sensitive to my cycle and will get zits and cranky right before my period. If that can happen to her when she's missing the parts that produce the hormones, I don't see why it couldn't happen to you.

I always found this a very interesting subject I have noticed that a lot of my male friends or ex-boyfriends
behave slightly different when I'm just right before my period or in it. Although I don't always feel sad or cranky
right before or even in it.
My ex still knows it when it's right the weeks before. My mum also has her internal hormone produce system out of her body ^^
but even though I don't live with her since 4 years now and see her just a couple of times a year, she still kind of feels it when
I am on my period, even though my cycle shifted in the past couple of years.

But back to the man, I have noticed when I am around or in that period somehow they start with more sensitive subjects or
give very rude/direct comments, being irritated, feeling they have to adjust I guess

It's a tricky thing to judge without actual testing - we're all seething with hormones all the time anyway so we could be thinking 'they were just really blunt, much more so than usual' when really we're just being more sensitive!

Interesting to hear about your mum, Lo. That definitely supports my idea that picking up girlfriend's hormones is the cause. Dammit!

I haven't been drunk in a long while. I wasn't even drunk last night, but about 5 or 6 pints on a stomach that isn't used to alcohol, a sip of whiskey, and a sip of some quince schnapps, combined with smoke from smokeable things, makes for one sick Daria the next day. Well, not vomity...

I am seemingly full of poo.

So, I got tattooed on the 29th! A friend and I were originally heading towards a supermarket to get food and drinks, when she turned to me and excitedly said "Let's get tattooed!". So we did. I am now the proud owner of the words "Pinky" and "The Brain" tattooed over my right and left ovaries, just under the scars from my laparoscopy. (In-joke with myself about my ovaries- they were named many moons ago.)

Things Becky learnt from it: having kitchen paper stuffed in the edges of your pants is worse than the pain of letters being tattooed into flesh. Also, that clingfilm finds it difficult to stay on when you're sweaty and moving about in close proximity to another body.

Pics or it didn't happen!

(Of the tattoo, that is, not the sweaty bit.)

What font did you go for? Was it a really bling ghetto gothic serif font? Please say it was.

There must be comic sans tattoos out there. They're either on Californian hipsters (ironically) or on tubby middle-managers who believe that they are 'whacky'... Probably.

Haha, it's Times New Roman but it just looks more like a generic seriph than TNR specifically. Will get pics when I can get to a camera.
A friend of mine was telling me about a tattoo he was planning on getting done- the anarchy symbol in red with "punk" written over it in ransom-note style lettering. I laughed at him and suggested while he's at it, he should get it done in comic sans.
A week or so later I see him and he lifts up his shirt to show the ridiculous tattoo on his chest, on the left hand side. He proudly points to the P of punk, which was done in comic sans. Just for me.

So, double post. Foreskin. Not *too* familiar with the uncircumcised penis. Apparently it can be speckly and/or splotchy with coloring?

Was the guy of mixed races? Because I think I've seen what you're talking about, and I'm pretty sure that can do it.

Hmm. No TMI for me. Yay for my body behaving itself.

Just got home from a three day larp event. I'm more of a fighter than a role player, so, lots of fighting generally means lots of eating. I'm uncomfortable pooping when I'm not in my own bathroom, so I held it.

I just took the most satisfying poop that literally the first thing I wanted to do when I was done was come in here and brag about it. I feel at least five pounds lighter. Man.

I was told to eat yogurt because I'm on powerful antibiotics. I don't like yogurt, but I choked some down after the doc told me it is possible I would get a yeast infection Down There from it killing the good bacteria. Now it sort of smells like yogurt Down There. Or I'm crazy.
