Currently I'm going through God Of War for the second time, this time on 'God Mode', ie. 'very difficult' level. It really is damn tricky now. It's the first game that I've finished once then have decided to go straight through again. On normal it only takes about eight hours, so I'm very glad of the extra difficulty level to help me get my money's worth!

IVAN - it's the only game I play these days. I've lost too much time to video games in the past. Net Hack and ADOM were just to hard but IVAN is a little easier and I think it's more entertaining. What other game could you lose all your limbs from leprosy and have your head separated from your helpless body by a frog.

Been playing Runescape a lot, as I'm addicted to killing giants. Other than that, nada.

A chap I bumped into online a while ago turned out to work for SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe), and we got to chatting about PS2, PSP and Sony in general (I was complaining about how we get shafted as consumers here in Europe, and he was explaining the (very good) reasons why we get shafted. Long story short is that if Sony (and M$ and Nintendo for that matter) could get away with simultaneous international releases of hardware and software, they would, but the logisitcs of manufacture preclude it for hardware, and European business law automatically puts us into the same basket as the rest of Europe. Their hands are tied by cicumstances out of their control.

Which made me feel better about it. Moot point really, in that I've sworn never to buy videogaming hardware on these shores again. The internet makes importing cheaper in the long run, in addition to getting games ahead of their UK release dates.

Annnnnnnyway, at the end of our conversation, this chap promised to have a rummage around the office, and see if he could rustle up some freebies for me, but way of apology for being shafted for so long. So yesterday, a package arrived in the post, containing Amplitude, Flat Out and Decks, FX

Amplitude: sequal to Frequency, which I absolutely loved. Think I'm going to get a lot of enjoyment out of that.
Flat Out: Destruction Derby-esque racer. Quite fun, if a little vanilla. Minigames are quite fun.
Decks, FX: essentially a DJ-simulator .Haven't had a play around yet, but it's intriguing if nothing else.

After playing through God Of War three times in a row (the first time I've done that with a game) I've gone back to Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

God Of War is utterly superb, with fluid, intuitive controls and the graphics really are about as good as we're going to see on the PS2. Prince Of Persia is as lovely as ever, but even its once silky visuals are showing their age compared to God Of War. The gameplay is still where it counts and they both have it in spades (which is a less inconvenient place to keep gameplay than you might think).

No Commie, I generally don't play games online. I'm usually keen to get away from my PC, and I've not hooked up the PS2. Maybe I will hook up the console for the next hardware generation, but it's not likely to happen before then.

Have you seen the Xbox version of Sands of Time? Oh my. Still looks super-lush now. In fact, I might have a dabble. Anyway, it's a whole nother level of silkiness. Lovely.

Just finished Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, on GBA. Man, I love my turn based strategy games. Can't recommend it highly enough.

And the forthcoming gamecube version is moistening my underpants to a large extent.

Currently playing through Doom 3 again, only this time its only after midnight and only in the dark and only with 6.1 surround sound and only on the hardest difficulty. There has been a lot of deaths and screaming coming from my room the last few nights biggrin.gif

Other than this "retrofest", I've recently acquired Dawn of War: Winter Assault expansion, and its kicking ass.

SPOILER WARNING!: The box lied. There isn't one new race in the game. There are two ohmy.gif necrons ftw!

As soon as I manage to find a good asdl provider and get a phone line installed at my flat I'll be going online with that, and also going back to good old guildwars as well.

I had a go of the singleplayer mode in Battlefield 2 last night too, and I must say I was highly impressed. It ate about four hours of my time yesterday and I ended up missing the Ultimate team's first ever social at the union rolleyes.gif

Oh yes, not so computer based, but at the moment I'm playing Ultimate (Frisbee). Its a game kind of like american football, with elements of netball and such in it as well as the fundamental difference of using flying plastic discs (we don't use the Frisbee brand and the name isn't associated officially with the sport, though most folk just call it frisbee anyways) instead of balls. Its much fun, and good exercise. Our team, the Abertay Avatars, are hopefully taking part in an upcoming tournament in Glasgow in a few weeks, and I should be in attendance, as long as the student loan folk decide to actually give me money before christmas...

I'm currently playing too much of Spider Solitaire when I should be working. It keeps on asking me 'would you like to play again?' and the truthful answer is always 'well, yes, I would like to, given that the other option is continuing to put my brain through a blender by writing my thesis'. Damn my honesty, I should lie to it and say that I don't want another game.

I used to play that many years ago... Oh dear gods, it was about eleven years ago. I practised with the Croydon team once too. They were amazingly good. They could throw the disk with incredible precision for the length of a football pitch with no problems at all.
