Yes, I'm not dead, I'm just very very very busy with my new job in Holland.
So far everything is pretty darn awesome - the people I work with are very nice, the university itself seems well equipped, the town is beautiful, the clubs are fun, the beer is very good, and my new flat (that I picked online from photographs) is not only very nice but also extremely well located in a nice area. Mostly I keep looking over my shoulder and wondering when it's all going to explode or if I'm about to wake up and the last twelve months will have been a dream. I had a distinctly odd feeling a couple of days ago - I was standing on the balcony, eating my breakfast as the sun shone down on the lovely gardens out the back of my flats, and it all seemed incredibly unreal... Can this really be my life? I start lecturing on Monday, so we'll see if I'm still so in love with it all after that! Anyway *waves* hello! In other news, I've also come up with an idea for this year's Halloween story. I'm going to try and make it an animation but it might have to be an audio short story if I don't have enough time.

I told my parents I'm getting a tattoo done a couple of days ago, which actually went surprisingly well. My mother did the expected fussing about how important it is to make sure they're not visible (I politely disagreed on that point, but she's welcome to her opinion). Compared to coming out as being bi I think it was a breeze.
The bi conversation was a lot more touchy: Mother (in general conversation): "You do like girls, you are normal aren't you?" Me: "I'm normal, but I'm also bisexual..." It didn't go much better for a while after that. On the scale of things, getting a tattoo will probably be a lot easier for them to accept than the fact that I rather fancy men sometimes. So, have you had to break news to people? How did it go?

I've just renewed Matazone.com until November 2019, and Matazone.co.uk is a rolling renewal. This site will always be here as long as I live. 'Just thought you might like to know that

Yes, I'm off out of the country on the 14th August, I'm at the Crawley Juggling Convention on the weekend of the 7th August, so 31st July is my leaving party! It's also combined with Laura's birthday party (her birthday is the next weekend).
The rough plan is to get a huge amount of people together and hopefully go to a park for a picnic then head to a pub in the evening. This might require us hiring a room depending on how many people want to come along (there are already 17 people coming!). Most of the organisation is being done via Facebook, but I thought I'd put it here for non-Facebooky people or for anyone I forgot to invite on there! http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/eve...9260#wall_posts If you're confused about the news I'm leaving the UK, here's some more information http://www.matazone.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=15131

Please don't let the Tories win. Please don't let the Tories win...
It seems like around 90% of the people I know are voting Lib Dems, 9% are going for Labour, and abotu 1% want the Tories back in power to rape and pillage the land. The annoying thing is that I suspect that the Tories are going to win. Poop. Anyway, I hope all you Brits have voted! |
