Hey-ho!
Love the animations, but some are let down by the voice acting. Especially the latest LGG - it sounds a bit book-bound. I'd like to advertise myself, although I don't have a very good mic, at the moment. I'm hoping to get a new, decent one on Sunday, though, so if you do think I'd be useful, I'll be able to send you a sample, if you give me a script or something. I do take drama classes, so I hope I can add something to this wonderful collection of cynicism Don't be afraid to give a response in the realm of "get lost, show-off" - I don't mind! -------------------- --

Do you want to fling a script at me - I could take one from an existing animation, or just make one up (The latter idea is probably not so good!)
Like I say, I currently have a stock PC mic - utterly useless. In the meantime, what to say can be sorted out (and I can practise!) EDIT: Ouf... Having seen the big LGG thread, I feel like a right snob... Anyways, even if you don't want a LGG voice, I guess I could just give you someone other than you and Sues -------------------- --

I'm going to stick with Sues for LGG for the forseeablle future. As with all things, it takes practice to improve, but there is also the important factor that I know where she is when I need to find her, but yes, it would be useful to have a greater range of voice actors available to me.
I only have a cheap mic too, which probably explains one of the reasons the sound quality is always so bad! -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

What? You're considering hiring him? Can I have an audition as well? What do you want me to say? I do have a slight French accent though.......

I wouldn't be hired, methinks - the 'pay' of having my voice in something so brilliant would be pay enough.
Sounds quality - yes, there seemed to be some crazy reverb in LGG. As if they were speaking in a large room without anyone else/any furniture in it. You know, though, a French accent in England is considered perfect for certain roles, so if you didn't try incredibly hard with the English, you may end up with a brilliant effect. I've been looking/listening through LGG, and there're a few bits I think I might be able to improve upon. It's very difficult, because firstly it's conversation, and speaking normally in acting is more difficult than speaking with emotion, much of the time. Also, you presumably have in your head how you want your characters to sound, so anything I do is a bit presumptious on my part! Also, I wouldn't be able to do LGG, as my voice is broken and any attempt I make at doing a female voice would sound shoddy. If I do do LGG for my audition, I shall probably only do a slightly different voice for her. -------------------- --

If you're male I wouldn't really want you to put on a female voice for a role, I figured you were female from you previous post's mention of doing 'a LGG voice'.
Anyway, there's nothing planned for a little while yet that will need any voice acting. The new animation will be the halloween one, and that's not got any lines in it. -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

I call dibs on the voices of any haggard, not-quite-so-clean-shaven characters you create. [/spam] But seriously, I think you guys do a good job. I get a kick out of hearing you cats act. Aside from the fact that you make the animations and Sues is your dear, your voices fit really well. I would agree that you could use a new mic, though. -------------------- With every breath...and all that I am...I will make a stand...until the end. |

Well, if you feel I shouldn't be doing it, feel free to kick me back to ponce land
Ultimately, it's what sounds best that counts, and it's always possible that my 'techniques' will just ruin it, so the proof will be in, as they say, the pudding. I think the voices certainly fit well, but it's just that in places they don't sound like a conversation, more someone narrating a story. I guess it's up for interpretation as to which is best, though - Sarah + Sea aren't exactly normal, I'm thinking. Incidentally, I love Sea's character drawing - he's the right style for the cartoon, but not too similar to Sarah herself. -------------------- --

I was going over some of the LGG animations and wanted to point out that the Irish accent I believe you mentioned in another thread would go good with the counsellor. I don't know why.

As long as you don't change the 'voice of the corporation' in Mr Snaffleburger, in my opinion that ones spot on.

The corporation's voice is brilliant - it needs to be... not quite monotonous, but rather, patronising. "The corporation loves you" and all that.
It's interesting how Mr. Snaffleburger's voice has changed with time, though - just watch the first and the last, you'll see what I mean. -------------------- --

The only difference I hear between the first and the latest is the mic doesn't sound as bad. Maybe I'm not hearing it or my laptop speakers are just that crummy.

I think all the voices are great, except for the voice of Sea in the new animation sounded a bit emotionless at times. I think Sarah sounded just right though

Voices for previously silent characters are always controversial, so I knew there would be people who would approve and those that wouldn't. Don't worry, I'm not taking offence at any of this. After all, I got a 'D' for my Theatre Arts exam ten years ago and there's no particular reason why I should've got much better in the meantime!

Well, I've sent it in. I could post it up here, but I suppose it'd be better for Mata to hear it first.
It's just a short bit from the conversation in the LGG café - nothing very exciting, but it's probably more difficult to do non-excited than excited. -------------------- --
