God I love summer. Gives me a chance to catch up on the gaming that I don't do whilst at university.

Been playing a lot of Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash!! with my little brother and best friend. My brother and I also started a game of X-Men Legends 2, but haven't done too much with it.

I came home with an excess of moneys, so I bought many new games that I've had my eye on.

X Men Legends
X Men Legends 2
Okami
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
Final Fantasy XII

Woo!

So far I've run through Okami which was brilliant. Almost all I hoped it would be. Also, it was one of the few games which had a serious emotional impact on me, and I have to say that many articles I've read are correct: Okami is one of the best arguments for video games as art on the market.

Currently playing Final Fantasy XII which I'm enjoying. I was initially put off by the fighting system, but it's pretty intuitive. I only wish it was more like other FF games and would just throw Gil at you. It's kinda scarce as far as I can tell which is a problem since you have to buy damn near everything. Also playing Paper Mario: TYD. I enjoy it well enough, but I probably won't finish it until I'm done with FFXII.

And now that I am gainfully employed, I plan to buy the last of the games for this generation. Mario Tennis, The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, Shadow of the Colossus, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Then I'm done! Finished! Freed from the shackles of fandom and collectors!

Until I buy my DS!

You know they changed how you get Gil in order to make it more realistic, right? (well, as realistic as FF can get). You cut down enemies and gain stuff that you can sell- you get used to it pretty quickly. So far FFXII made it to my second favorite FF; my favorite being VI- so it's totally worth every moment.

I'm dying to try a copy of Okami, but I've not found a used copy that I've been willing to buy (that and I've been too wrapped up in the Wild Arms series to play anything else >.> ), but I'm glad it's as awesome as it seemed it would be. happy.gif

Currently I'm playing FFX with the determination that I'll actually finish it this time and not just run off to start another game >.o

Yeah, I kinda figured it out, the realistic thing, but it annoys me to have to decide if I want a very useful magick spell or equally useful technick. However, I suppose if that's the biggest annoyance of my day, I should count myself lucky.

Final Fantasy X is worth a play through. The story is a bit overly melodramatic, but the graphics are great and the battle system is fantastic. I'd also reccomend Final Fantasy X-2, but it seems that I'm about the only person on earth who likes it, so... take that as you will.

I'd reccomend Okami. Worth the thirty (?) bucks I paid for it, but then again, I'm also a Clover fanboy.

I also just bought a DS from a friend of mine. It's coming with New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS, so I'm kinda psyched, and I figure I'll be playing that a lot (when not playing FFXII, of course.)

Just hack and slash a lot and buy both? =P

I also really like X-2, just not as a continuation to a FF game

Though I tried to escape it's grip for as long as I could I just bought guitar hero 2 from a friend.....somehow I knew I'd end up either getting that or DDR. Knowing me I'll probably eventually get both happy.gif;

Ah yes, Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, and Guitar Hero III are among the last games I'll be purchasing for my PS2. I look forward to having them, but not so much with the buying of them.

Has anyone else been looking at the upcoming Rock Band? My god, that looks like so much fun! Damned expensive with all the kit unfortunately, but by the time you can play the drums on the expert setting... Well, you can play the drums!

Heh. I read that article, too Mata. wink.gif

But yeah, I'm super stoked for Rock Band. It's a bit of a curse, though... now whenever I listen to non classical music I think to myself "How would this be in Rock Band?" It's pathetic.

On topic... I just bought a copy of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I also got my DS today and played through the first two and a half worlds of New Super Mario Bros.

It's awesome.

I've been playing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on the PS3. Partly because I get it through work, partly because I will probably be working on the sequel. It's pretty good actually, but there are a hell of a lot of rough edges left on it. If I do get on the sequel then I'll have my work cut out for me!

Oh, and I've been playing Burnout Paradise too biggrin.gif

I've entered hour sixty on Final Fantasy XII. I'm worried I shan't finish it before I go back to university and thus I will have to wait until Christmas time to finally sink my teeth into Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I also picked up a copy of Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble for the DS, but my energies are focused on New Super Mario Bros. and my L and R buttons are broked so I haven't broken it out quite yet.

It's not too bad. Whenever I listen to anything remotely electronic, I think about how it could be turned into a DDR song. It's the worst with Mushroomhead (download "Bwomp" and see what I mean).

Rock Band is looking cool. A few of my boys and I were talking about it recently. My brother and his friends are waiting with baited breath to get theit hands on it.

ANyhow, I got DDR Universe for the Xbox 360 and I'm having tons of fun with it. I'm saving up for a pair of trips over the next few months and now who has time to go out and spend money when you can stay inside and play DDR?

World of Warcraft...

I've recently joined a new guild after being in one for about a year on my L70 warrior (Kilrogg Alliance, called Asmoriar). Just started an arena team, our first night we won 6 lost 7 bouts which isnt too shabby at all for a team that had been formed less than an hour. Levelling my belf mage (Kilrogg Horde, called Amithrar). L67 at the mo. Nearly there. So yeah say hi if you are on Kilrogg.

Other than that, mostly playing Wii. Resi 4 and Zelda own.

I briefly had a stalker who created a sim-version of me, with whom sim-him had a large and complicated family, but I don't play myself.

I've been playing Katamari on the Wii! It is dangerously cute. In-between I play the Matrix game to remind myself of how tough and hard and badass I am. Yay rolling up giant balls and then kicking people in the balls!

"Get The Items On The Shopping List Before Your Opponent" in Sainsburys, with walkie talkies! Having a little brother to make Saturday night shopping fun with is FTW!

Also, a game called Tangle which is incredibly addictive and frustrating. I'm still on Level 7. For the last couple of days. *twitch*

Alas, no more WoW as I don't think having an active subscription and starting college again will be conducive to achieving anything on my course. Apart from maybe dribble collected during playtime. It could be art....

Quite a bit of Bioshock.

Far too much of The Simpsons Game, but that counts as work (whoo, it's been announced, I can finally say what I've been working on for the last 10 months or so). >_>

Also a lot of Goldeneye, Blast Corps and Pilotwings on the N64, and then even more of the above at work since we're at the point in the project where most days involve a lot of sitting around doing nothing and waiting for someone to find a bug. 4 player Goldeneye still rocks!

Everyone I know who's worked on one or more of the Potter games ended up seriously hating it. Hopefully you won't have the same experience. smile.gif (Admittedly one guy used to animate Lara Croft a few years back for Tomb Raider and ended up animating plates falling off a shelf for Order of the Phoenix!)

The one moop is talking about isn't being released until the beginning of November, I think (he works as a video game developer, in case that wasn't obvious). Which of the other squillion and five Simpsons games were you talking about? My personal favorite was always Bart vs. The Space Mutants on the NES. I think we have it floating around somewhere, but I haven't played it since I was a kid.

Lately, thanks to Frog, I've been playing Tangle (for Macs). This has led to a LOT of swearing at my computer. It's so simple, yet SO infuriating!

I remembered Populous: The Beginning yesterday, and spent a while digging through my cupboards to find the CD for it.

Oh it is still so awesome. Plug in the cheats and Volcano your opponents to death. The fun!

While looking for it, I also found CDs for Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper, Baldur's Gate, Rebel Assault 2, Planescape: Torment and many many more to keep me amused between calling job agencies.

Silly buggers.

I just saw the title of the thread and it popped in my head. Last game I bought was the new Guild Wars expansion, other than that, I've been pottering about in WoW still while waiting for the next part of half life 2 and portals, that's so going to kill my PC.

Edit: Good luck getting the old school games to run on XP, theme hospital always went tits up on me....I never bothered to see if there was a patch or anything...

Played bioshock. Good game, origional storyline but one major flaw. It is too short. Might get mysims for the wii, maybe super paper mario. Defenately getting more controllers for the n64. Also getting goldeneye.

Can't wait for Nintendo to get its online arse into gear.

I got bored of BioShock and ended up installing about 3/4 of the way through. The repetitive to and fro'ing to fetch random items started to get frustrating and boring.

I seem to be back in a gaming mood though, having not played much for a while. I completed Super Paper Mario last weekend. It's mostly a great game and the dialogue and sense of humour make up for the occasionaly really frustrating or dull parts. It could have done with twice as many worlds though, especially considering how huge Super Mario World on the SNES was. I liked the 'flipping to 3D' concept but occasionally it felt as if using it made the puzzles too easy, I guess the game just had a very 'casual gamer' level of difficulty.

I got the Half-Life 2 Orange Box last week and so several hours were spent playing Portal. Unfortunately just several hours, it's not a very long game, but it is very cool and who can say no to psychotic computers, violating the rules of physics and cake. I've also been playing back through Half-Life 2 since I never got around to completing it but would like to before playing Episodes 1 and 2.

I've been playing Halo 3 at lunchtimes (work has a comfy room with a projector - it's nice to play 4 player split screen where your portion of the screen is still the size of a 37" TV biggrin.gif). I'm still not really getting into it though -and I don't understand why it's getting so much praise, 4 player Goldeneye beats it in terms of fun.
