 How do I set up ScummVM on the Wii? |

Google seems to have failed me in my search for a simple, step-by-step set of instructions on how to get ScummVM working on the Wii. It's possible, that much I'm sure of, but everything seems to rely on me already having done something else, then typing stuff and turning thrice widdershins... You get the idea. Does anyone else know how to do this?

From what I can tell from a few minutes of googling, the 'Wii' version of ScummVM is actually a Gamecube port that you can run on the Wii using a homebrew launch disk such as Datel's SD Media Launcher - basically a boot disk to allow you to load homebrew games from an SD card. Having to pay for that makes it seem a less attractive prospect.
I believe there used to be a hack to install a 'Homebrew Channel' to allow you to run further homebrew software from an SD card on the Wii, but the more recent firmwares prevent you from installing it (though they won't remove it) so if you've done a system update recently or ran any games that include the update (Mario Kart Wii) that's probably not a viable option. Ah... Blast. Cheers for the info.
From a quick Google it looks like the SD media launchers are being blocked by the firmware updates too. Damn. Shame really.
I just played through Beneath a Steel Sky (not originally a SCUMM game but runs in ScummVM free to download on their site) on my laptop. Would have been cool to be able to play it on the Wii in the living room though. Would give me a reason to turn the Wii on again too. >_> It's a shame that console developers have to block out 'homebrew' software in the way that they do. I can see why they do it though, since they need to protect their brand's image and 90% of the time giving people the capability to run homebrew/unofficial software also allows you to run copies of commercial licensed games. I think I read on team twiizers' website, that version 0.1 beta 1 of the Twilight hack, is compatible with the latest wii firmware.
