Hello all!
I'm starting an Agony Aunt column for my school's internal website (nothing too Hallmark, don't worry!) and I'm trying to think of a name. I've narrowed it down to about 15 or 16 and any input would be helpful... It'll be called "Ask [Name goes here]", just for the record. So, pseudonym help, por favor! Ask... Ariadne Artemis Athena Aurora Arianna Achlys Azrael Aislin(n) Aliza Aelwen Ardara Amaryllis Amelie Aurelia Ariella Aveline -------------------- That which we call a rose by any other name would still have thorns...

Hi, welcome to the forums
Ask Ariadne sounds good to me! I'm moving this to Tips and Tricks, I think that might be a better place for it. -------------------- Every sort of expert knowledge and every inquiry, and similarly every action and undertaking, seems to seek some good. Because of that, people are right to affirm that the good is 'that which all things seek'...

Because an Eater of Souls would *definitely* give kind and loving advice to everyone who wrote in.

If you're offering particularly dark and sarcastic advice, I'd reccomend Ask Annabelle Lee. Wot with Poe and all.

Well, Ariadne was a fertility goddess, and if its an Agony Aunt column for teenagers you're probably going to be getting plenty of questions about sex, so that fits. Athena, however, was the goddess of wisdom, so that works as well. Artemis was goddess of the moon, so if its an all girl school, or you're expecting most questions for girls - particularly to do with periods or childbirth, she'd be a good pseudonym to use.
Sorry, I like greek mythology maybe a little too much, so I'm tempted to favour one of them. However, you have to wonder how many school aged children are going to want to send questions in to Athena. It sounds... I don't know.. pretentious? No, thats not quite what I mean, but its the best I can do for now. Perhaps a name that isn't taken from any mythology would be more accessable. I could well be wrong here, though. Go Arianwen! -------------------- |

I see what you mean about the mythology thing, Novander. Altogether too pretentious! Has a ring to it, but I'm not quite feeling up to impersonating Greek godesses

Ariadne got turned into a spider, so I'm not sure that her advice would be seen as particularly useful if anyone understood the reference. If you think the Greek goddess names are pretentious then you'd be better off with Annabelle Lee, I think. The names on your list are good, but easily confused people might be put off by the odder-sounding ones.

So, have you chosen a name yet? Your list was good and I'd like to know which one you picked.

I am very puzzled. My school newspaper has suddenly started an advice column called "Ask Ariadne." Either we go to the same school or life is giving me another confusing coincidental poke.
