Oh, come on, the video is from friggin' CNN. Besides, do you really think they would get any shock value from "We don't need to invade any other countries?" Any comments like that would be edited out.

I have no idea where Calantyr went in America, but wherever it may be, someone had a bit too much to drink. "Do they have phones in Europe?" Aagh!

In short, I'm angry for no particular reason, and am starting to blather.

P.S. "Stereotypes aren't true" is a stereotype. (wait- wah? huh.gif )

When I was a noob, I had a lot of time on my hands. I was nosy, opinionated, and a terrible writer. Yeah, I know, not much changed. tongue.gif It was around 2003 (2004?), and I had just really started using the internet for purposes beyond games. But, of course, games were the reason that got me to this website, because the "nine-mouthed baby" led me to visiting this website, and eventually the forums. (See what I mean by terrible writer? blink.gif ) Anyways, I was here for a while.

Toodles.

Mata's blood alcohol is 98%, which sort-of makes him a walking fermentation tank.

He has taken advantage of this, and now sells "Matabeer (That home-brewed taste)".

QUOTE (moop @ Oct 30 2005, 02:56 PM)
Cars are not explicitly designed for killing things, though still dangerous in the wrong hands. However, cars perform a useful function and are a lot less dangerous - the risk is justified.
'The same rule' is completely beside the point.

Whether or not how dangerous the object is is not a factor. Dangerous or not, looking cool is a valid use of a gun, no matter how stupid it is.

QUOTE
Letting any idiot have a gun just so you can look cool and shoot at bits of cardboard is the most selfish thing I've ever heard. Letting anybody own a gun puts them in the hands of people who can't handle the responsibility and will end up shooting themselves or others.

I'm not responsible for unstable people, and I will not give up my gun just because a miniscule percentage of people are going to shoot themselves or their family. Not owning a gun would not stop some of those people, some might end up driving their car on the freeway on the wrong side of the road.

QUOTE
As for the feeding people argument, I was merely pointing out that Ange's question, to which you replied, was "What uses for guns are there that don't involve killing things?". You didn't answer that, did you?
And your constant assumtion that I'm some kind of animal rights obsessed vegan who winces at the though of things eating other things, will you pull your head out of your arse for 2 seconds and take a look around. My reply had nothing to do with that. Your constant replies to my post in that manner do nothing but prove my point that you're a complete and utter f__kwit who can't make an argument without resorting to twisted logic, self contradiction, lies and horribly horribly inaccurate personal insults!

I'm pretty sure you soared past my points, brushed them off and commenced to insulting me. Your posts seemed to tell me that killing animals was wrong, and your opinion on hunting should be enforced on everyone else. Hunting for food is a valid use of guns, and you can't assume it's wrong jsut because it has to do with killing something.

Funny how you call me an "utter f__kwit" and accuse me of personally insulting you in the same sentence.

Exactly.  But, someone intending to commit a crime wouldn't really care about whether or not their weapons were purcahsed legally.
*

I was referring to people who buy them legally then in a moment of stupidity/depression/whatever turn them on themselves or their families. That particular problem gets solved quite effectively.
*

And the other "particular" problem of home defense gets magnified.

Recreation. By killing things

Oh, the poor man-shaped targets at the shooting range! Taken down in their prime! DAMN YOU, GUNS!

QUOTE
Looking cool. Look at me! I can kill things.

Do you think people buy crappy cars and trick them out with neon and the like to say "Hey, look, I can drive!" No. They buy it because it looks cool.

The same rule can be applied here.

QUOTE
Feeding people? By killing things
Therefore, we should chop off the claws and teeth of carnivorous animals everywhere, and instill them on a vegetarian diet.

The entire "killing animals" is a whole different argument.

Well, guns have already been made, so not making 'em in the first place is pretty much a dead point.

So, stop making guns and ammunition. Eventually, either all the guns will be destroyed, or all the ammunition will be used up.

So, you just assume that every country will be nice enough to stop making guns and amunition if you ask them nicely?

Fidel Castro would laugh his buttox off.

Josef from Mercenaries. He's more of an anti-hero, but he seems a whole lot like a villain.

Here's a question, would one basic system work for every culture, or are there differences to how crime should be dealt with in different cultures?
*

Definitely. There should be huge differences in the way crime is dealt with. A more Social approach would not work in some cultures, just as a more Libertarian approach would fail miserably in the others.

As for things like stealing, I'd say make sure everyone has a decent standard of living. Yes, you might have to raise taxes, but if it means that there's no homelessness, I'm all for it. Take Denmark as an example.
*

Well, I don't think homelessness is the porblem here. The people poor enough to need to steal probably have to have some sort of income to arm themselves. An unarmed robbery is like trying to steal candy from a nightclub bouncer.

Arachnidoc: Oh ho.

Doc: Erm...

Doc: Well, first I had to-
Ash: On second thought, I'd rather not know.
