The Smiths, as far as syuu is concerned, are God.

So this is where you will be discussing their wonderfulness, or if you hate them, what in hell is wrong with you and where your parents went wrong. =)

I'm not really sure what I'd call them. They do stock a lot of morbid love songs that I find terribly romantic.

ie: There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Bigmouth Strikes Again is pretty awesome too. Just don't fall into Dayan's the beginning of The Queen is Dead loop. *shudder* How depressing ..

In all honesty, I never liked the Smiths until recently. Now, however, I hail certain of their tunes as pure musical genius. The aforementioned 'There Is A Light...' is probably my favourite, but others such as 'Panic' and 'Sheila Take A Bow' rank highly, too.

Alanity - I've got that Placebo cover somewhere. It's not half bad, I must admit...

Umm.. I voted without knowing exactly what i was voting for. I thought you guys were talking about the matrix with all of the Agent smith clones. Umm that explains one hatem vote that really should be in the I have no idea who the smiths are catagory. I am quite embarrased at my lack of music knowledge.
Im a nerd. I can change. If i have to. I guess.

I was thinking of starting an appreciation for Morrissey and The Smiths thread and this one, though it was dead, has been brought back to life again! WOOHOO!!!

I urge everyone to check them out. I did have their Queen is Dead album (their best one, in my opinion - considering I've heard them all smile.gif ) but I;ve lost it! I was LOSING my mind over it. I bet I left it in my brother;s house in California, where it won't be appreciated...

The Smiths are from Manchester I think. They were typically during the 80s and were huge here, in England. If you like bands like The Cure, Depeche Mode and whatnot, then you'll love The Smiths

I remember when I first got into them, my brother and I were coming back from somewhere and we managed to listen to all of their albums bar Meat is Murder, all in one go (it was great) and then we started to listen to some of Morrissey's solo stuff, namely Viva Hate. And if you know that album you would know that Alsation Cousin is the first track on it. And OMG what a HUGE difference. Its so much more...intense and filled with anger than the Smith;s stuff. I was surprised. Did/does anyone else feel like that? Apparantly, according to my brother, Morrissey and a crush on Marr (a guitar god) for sometime. After he told him, the band couldn't work together and split up...quite sad really, they were amazing together...

Oh well whatever nevermind. There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out (damn long title) is probably one of my favourite songs by them. Listening to The Smiths got me into reading Oscar Wilde, one of my favourite poets, so I'll always love them for that too!

I don't!

Some people think I'm strange for that, but no I don't. Besides they have some funny songs too, Frankly Mr Shankly is pure class smile.gif *tries to rhyme Mr Gallagher with something*
