Due to the non-functioning of the server currently (disk upgrades have gone seriously awry) I'm having to listen to music in my head. I've been listening to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" for just over an hour.
But what is odd is that my brain is visualising it being sung by Brian Griffin. Perhaps it's due to the recent watching of that episode - you know, the one where Peter asks Death if he can go back to 1984 to relive his youth instead of spending all his time with Lois, and ends up married to Molly Ringwald? I think it's called "Meet The Quagmires" or something... Anyway, one of the other bits that sticks is Peter dancing in the nightclub to "Axel F". Oh no, now I've got Peter Griffin in my head doing "Axel F" he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he and another he he he he he Please, someone make it stop!

'Le Fil' is brilliant, as it turns out, much as I expected.
I've also been listening to Sonny J's 'Disastro', which was my latest Album Club offering. It's OK, a bit like Beck meets Avalanches, but the free CD that came with it a fantastic. It's called 'Earwax', as it's a bit of a play on the Soulwax TooManyDJs format - just one long mix made of anything that will mix together, and several things that shouldn't. 50 minutes of great. Finally, I've been listening to my most recent compilation creation, which should be posted and away before the day's end, or soon after. Get yer skates on, Daria... -------------------- the end is nice |

Amazing mix CD I got in the mail from a McGill chica. It mixes up Devendra Banhart, Tunng, worldy Spanish & L. American music, some Of Montreal B-sides, old-school funk, Emily Haines and Ben Harper, all with impeccable order. I am marrying this girl.

Mmm, Devendra. Gotta love the big beardy freako. 'Cripple Crow' was one of the stereo highlights for the late shift at Music Zone. Weirding out the customers was my favourite hobby.
I've had a hearty dose of the first disc of 'Counter Culture 06' in my ears this fair morn. It's a singularly perfect comp, and I recommend it to anyone who likes mellow mixed with odd - this means you, elphaba. The second disc isn't quite as perfect, but it's still pretty farking brilliant, and very noisy and mad. Gotta love that mellow/mental juxtaposition that the CC comps offer the prepared listener. -------------------- the end is nice |

I am the best - I wouldn't call myself an 'enthusiast', but I likes meself a bit of jazz from time to time. There's a good night on at a pub not far from me that does live jazz, but it always seems to coincide with nights that I just want to have a quiet chat over a few ales. It's still pretty sweet, though. froggie - I'm not sure whether or not to take it as a compliment, as you seem suprised that there was something you liked... Anyway, I'm glad you liked what you liked, because I like it too. cheese - woo, old skool mataforum choonage! Follwo that up with 'Pig Latin' by Dillinger Escape Plan (feat. Mike Patton, of course), and you've got a good dose of early iRC obsessive listening. I've broken my cycle of randomness on the ol' portable tune machine by selecting albums that I love and listening to them in their entirety (or as long as my walk to/from work allows). Yesterday I gave it some ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead ('Worlds Apart' - practically faultless), and this morning I had Mansun's magnum opus 'Attack Of The Grey Lantern', an album I always forget that I love until I listen to it and fall in love all over again. -------------------- the end is nice |

That ...Trail Of Dead album was amongst the very short list of albums pretty much everyone in store liked, although you had to be pretty sharp to skip the title track if it went on the stereo (so sweary - and so quickly!). My love for it stems from my latent progginess. I don't own any albums with Roger Dean covers, but I find my favourite stuff has been touched by the hands of prog. I suppose I like tunes that have a touch more to them than simple verse-chorus-verse - not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
I need more Cocteau Twins. I've liked near enough everything I've heard by them, but own little. Perhaps a spot of shopping is in order... -------------------- the end is nice |

I suspected you had some progginess within you. And I've got to say, I do like the word "progginess". But alas I can't give you a renewed opinion because there's no actual sound coming from the speakers. If I'd not heard it before I'd have thought it was a joke, but because I have, it disturbs me. It appears that these lovely MP3 streaming boxes I have don't want to play nice with this album, but they play other stuff. Most annoying.
So right now I'm listening to the sound of silence.
