Hey all -
Just got shiny new internet but seeing as I'm sharing with a flatmate this year the internet needs to go between two rooms. Was looking at ethernet hubs as we both run on Mac and both use ethernet to connect to the 'net. Will an ethernet hub thing work in putting the internet between both laptops? I know my broadband has the capability to be networked between two or more laptops and it *is* Mac friendly! Any help will be much appreciated! Don't fancy shelling out £50 for another router but the thought of paying £20 for an ethernet hub that won't work is also unappealing! Thankles to you shiny group of computer literate folks! I'm afraid a hub alone is not going to be much use to you. There is a cheaper way to do it than to buy an off the shelf router, but whether or not it's viable depends on how comfortable you are with messing around with the innards of computers - don't worry, I don't mean the laptops.

Thankies Mr Fuzzy
I'm afraid of both the outer and inner parts of computery type things... I get queasy when I have to look inside my laptop - and I only have to lift the keyboard up... Buggerypants. Hmmmm - I'm gonna have to phone my flatmate now and tell her the hub is a no-goer... She's going to be so crushed, she excites easily when it comes to purchasing things! Any other, technology free, alternatives would be welcome at this point! I wish I'd asked for computer literacy for Christmas now. Thanks again!
