Up until a few years ago I used to wake up to the radio each morning, and the first song would invariably become incorporated into whatever dream I was having. It would also, almost without fail, become the song that was stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Nowadays, it is the default buzzing of my mobile phone which acts as my morning alarm. And yet, somehow, I still find myself with a song in my mind that just won't go away. 90% of the time, the song seems to have been selected entirely at random, with no link to anything I may have listened to the day before. It also tends to be something I only know a few of the lyrics to, so I end up repeating a chorus over-and-over all day.

Am I the only one that experiences this?
What is YOUR random morning song today?
And any idea where it came from?

The song in my head this morning was 'Breathe In' by Lucie Silvas. I'm only semi-familiar with the song, so had just one line of the chorus buzzing around, and I've now just discovered that I was even singing that slightly wrong.

I have no idea where it came from.

Mine isn't so much random as "the song I chose for my alarm clock".

"Pattern Against User" by At the Drive In. And I can still sleep through it...

This morning, I have the opening riff to U2's 'Vertigo' going around my head... a song that annoys me because of the interesting counting at the beginning: "Uno, dos, tres, catorce..." (1,2,3,14).

Slept through it this morning biggrin.gif

I always thought there was something wrong with the count-in at the start of that song, good to know I wasn't just imagining things... Ah Bono, you numpty.

This morning when I woke up I had the theme to "Stoppit and Tidyup" in my head, mainly due to falling asleep listening to it. Terry Wogan's sultry tones can be very relaxing, even if the cartoon itself is the product and producer of nightmares.

songfacts.com says:
One theory is that Bono was directing listeners to The Bible: 1st Testament, 2nd Book, 3rd Chapter, 14th verse - "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you."

*shrugs*

The theme alone is frightening stuff! More a collection of worrying noises than music. Having said that: good choice smile.gif

It's good to know I'm not the only one annoyed by that. I have had many a rant about that counting. laugh.gif

My random song seems to be the smurfs theme song today and I have no idea why.

I've done the dream incorporation thing before! It's kind of awesome. I often get a song stuck in my head that I haven't listened to for a LONG time, and it just pops up. It's odd.

I don't know what's there right now, but I get "Breakfast at Tiffany's" stuck in my head PERPETUALLY now, so just thinking about earworms does it to me!

I've got a girl by Tripping Daisy is currently going through my head. I was listening to it the other day, so I'm guessing that's where it came from I like it though, because it's a little twangy and kind of odd.

I just get overall Morning Weird--songs being a minor component of it. I woke up composing a thank-you note to an acquaintance today. "A little note to thank the dude for existing," said my morning brain. "Wouldn't that be a nice, normal thing to do? I can mail it to him!"

"HOLD UP." said my rational, sipping-coffee brain about ten minutes later.

^ That is pretty odd smile.gif

Although I have had a few weird moments in the half-asleep stage in the morning.

---

I shouldn't really include this, since it only just popped into my head (at 10:15pm) and thus is rather late to be a "Morning Song". But I don't know where it came from, so if anyone knows why I'm suddenly singing "La Bamba", please let me know.

Today it's just a jingle that I find amusing that simply goes, "Avocados from Mexico!"

That sounds wonderful!

I had this song today. Plus roommates had early starts this morning so my 'singin-spanish-in-the-shower' was GUILT-FREE. Score!

^ Ha, that's funny, 'cause I was also singing Spanish this morning (though not in the shower).

It was this song:

Una lluvia violenta y salvaje

Apparently I'm on an Eve 6 kick recently, so this morning it's all about Promise by Eve 6.

This morning, My Chemical Romance's new single "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)" was in my head. But only the first four lines of the radio edit. The album version goes:

Drugs
Gimme drugs
Gimme drugs
I don't need it...

But the radio edit goes:
*BEEEP*
Gimme *BEEEP*
Gimme *BEEEP*
I don't need it...

So, obviously, I sing the beeps wink.gif

This morning actually has caused two songs to alternate. First is Squares by the Beta Band and the second one is Heaven by Lamb. I'm sure the recent reborn obsession with the 6 feet under soundtracks.

This morning I had:

"I Just Can't Wait To Be King", from The Lion King, in my head because of a dream (see the Strange Dreams thread).

Also, "Bright Eyes", by Art Garfunkel.

And, as I sat on the edge of my bed, I started to play the theme tune to "Fraggle Rock" on my piano.

Nice! Next play the A-Team theme song. haha

I seem to be on repeat because it's still heaven by Lamb.

What station do you listen to? They play the uncensored version on Kerrang! radio all the time... I do wish they wouldn't play it at all though.

I mostly listen to the radio at work, where I am limited to the analogue frequencies.
