Basically I want to know whether the dollar/sterling exchange rate will be affected by the election in November? I need to know whether the dollar will get stronger or weaker? Purely from a selfish point of view as I'm going over to America in November and want to know when to get my dollars laugh.gif Also Greenleaf has a dollar account and it would be useful to know if we can transfer some money shortly?

Depends dunnit.

Bush gets elected - the world panics at the oncoming global nuclear winter - mad financial instability

Kerry gets elected - everyone goes kiteboarding and buys each other ice cream - financial stability.

In all liklihood, I wouldn't expect it to fluctuate that much between now and then. unless of course, something bonkers happens in the middle east, which will screw up the oil price, which will screw up the currencies.

but then again - what do I know?

More than me obviously otherwise I wouldn't have asked for people's opinions laugh.gif Plus you've lived in America and you have more of an idea of how the economy works out there.

I think you're right about it not being too much of an issue until the elections have taken place. In which case it should remain fairly stable for the time being?

I second Jonman's response ---

Bush is nuts so anything could happen with him

Kerry is as equally nuts but chances are whatever happens with him would mean less bombing, oil issues, and nuclear warfare than if Bush was elected.

I wouldn't worry about it pixiegoth
