Hi Catbells, welcome to my forums. Charity work is a very good hobby! What made you decide to start doing that?

Thoroughly agree! Volunteering is wonderful, I think everyone should do some if they can, it really can enrich you.

My radio shows and LARP/LRP (Live Action Role Play) pretty much take up all of my spare time. I go into a hospital radio station in London once a week and have a community radio show more locally too. The rest of the time I dress myself up and go running about in the woods... great fun!

We've got a lot of musical people. There should be a Matazone band!

I could bring my Guitar Hero World Tour band stuff to the next meet? wink.gif

This sounds like the pre-curser to one of the greatest ideas of all time!

I used to be a Sea Cadet through which I did sailing and was part of their band

Finally, another ex- sea cadet, we're few and far between! I did this all the way through til I was 18 and loved it. Opened up a lot of interesting experiences that I just wouldn't have had otherwise.

I've recently started up a new kung fu class (the same style as before, Wing Chun) and I've been getting back into painting. I really need to get on with editing my novel again too. It seems like there's never enough time in the days at the moment.

My girlfriend volunteers at homeless shelters and is the cox for rowing teams or training things related to rowing seemingly every-other day of the week too. She might actually be busier than I am!

I've been too busy mostly to indulge in my hobbies beyond the usual computer gaming, but I did a fair bit of stuff over the summer last year that I'm quite proud of.

Firstly, there's my miniatures. Been doing these for years and I'm now more or less at a point where I'm actually happy to show people my work. My latest stuff is my new(ish) Space Marine force from WH40k. Photos at: Minis

I also had two roleplay games on the go with my old RPG/wargames crowd while I was living closer to home. Though they're both unfinished (on indefinite hiatus due to moving back to Dundee to return to uni), they were a lot of fun to do at the time and are chronicled on Obsidian Portal:
Anduris Prime was a D&D game running as the continuation of an older one, using mostly the same players and characters.
The Saga of Rosemary Goodfruit started as a joke about tawdry novels' names, and grew into a full-blown 7th Sea campaign I ran with some of my good friends. There's more on this one's site to appreciate, including character artwork (mostly stolen from t'interwebs, but with the notable exception of the artwork for the PC Rosa, who was sketched and photoshopped by her player) and a considerable amount of fluff.

My housemate Matt has started up painting Space Marines again and he's very good at it too. The link to your picture doesn't work though, could you try it again? I'm sure he'd be interested.

I'm painting High Elves for Warhammer Fantasy at the moment, they take roughly forever because I chose the standard colour scheme of white cloaks with blue sashes. Shading white without making it look awful is rather time consuming.

I might post a few photos if I can get a decent camera and some models I'm not ashamed of in the same place at the same time.

Liking the look of your Space Marines so far Tara. biggrin.gif

That Inquisitor is very good! I'm sure Matt will be impressed when I show him.

Elph: Yes, I do a bit of yoga. I've done it occasionally for about 16 years. I don't go to any regular classes, but the sun salutation is part of my regular work outs.

biggrin.gif Thanks guys. I love looking at other folk's minis as well, its amazing how much variety of style exists within such a specialised field of painting, so it'd be great to have a gander at some Matazonians' work.

I'll have to see if I can dig out some of my old models. If they're not too chipped/crappy looking, I'll throw some piccies up. I seem to remember having a Vindicator hassasshin with a wicked camo cloak.

Edit: Dave, some of those actual miniatures are mega detailed, are they the standard models or did you customise?

Edit 2: Nah, they look crap. tongue.gif

Hah, I learned that off of Wii Fit, its one of my favourite Yoga poses for its humour value.

Also @ P@: most are pretty standard. The honour guard are Grey Knight minis in disguise and the Chapter Master is a conversion using lots of standard marine bits, the commander plastic kit and some assault marine weapons. Other than that its mostly jut out-of-the-box stuff.
I'm also just putting up the finished versions of the Dreadnought and the Honour Guard at the minute, as well as my first complete assault terminator.
