Dear Santa,

Thank you for my awesome present. I look forward to constructing my very own owl and never being short of Parma Violets for the next few months/weeks/days/seconds, assuming my self control holds up. biggrin.gif

Yours,
moop

Ow, I just sliced my ass cheek (and my trousers) open on the casing from a 20 or so year old PC that I'd carelessly left standing upright behind me. I guess they must roll the corners of the removable panels now, for health and safety purposes.

Fortunately only a minor scratch and not as bad as it sounds but still quite the shock.

Now, on to the question of whether to tell the person I was checking it over for about its history?

The trick is in ignoring the envelopes but still feeling that way about boxes and thick padded envelopes, they seldom betray me by containing bills and other such nasties..

I first encountered the animations at a friend's house at about 3am. After a few hours of watching Happy Tree Friends we stumbled upon Mr Snaffleburger, worked our way through that and then through most of Mittens.

I didn't join the forum though until snoo mentioned that it existed a few years later and reminded me of the animations. I think I may've joined IRC at about the same time too. It's about the only forum I've ever racked up a significant post count.

I think the lack of a single topic or purpose for the forum helped with that. I have quite an eclectic collection of hobbies and interests (and usually list picking up new hobbies as a hobby) so whilst more focussed forums are usually interesting to read in passing I've never really ever stuck around.

Yeah, I think it's time. sad.gif

I'll work out the details tomorrow and decide on a new network that works for everyone, since some people are having trouble with Quakenet.

I've made a temporary channel in #burrito on quakenet (irc.quakenet.org port 6667) for the time being.

Thanks.

I did try but I struggled to reduce the difficulty without it losing something. Doesn't help that I've spent too long playing it to accurately gauge how hard the ship is to control.

Against my better judgement I joined in the Ludum Dare 48 hour game jam at the weekend. After a bit of hatchet work to reduce the scope of the game (and to cut down the brutal difficulty) I managed to get the thing finished and submitted. biggrin.gif

Enjoy the chaos of my creation, Creature Collect. It's made using Flash so should just work in the browser.

QUOTE (Lurker in the Park @ Apr 7 2012, 05:33 PM) *
I'd rather not know I have hayfever. Sadly my nose has other ideas.

It would be nice if it was that subtle. sad.gif

I seem to be developing an allergy to superglue, which is annoying since I use it a lot building model planes and occasionally other things. Steering clear of it and using slower drying, lighter, less brittle glues is probably a good thing in the end though (and better for one's respiratory bits too).

I didn't use many washes on that guy, I'm wary of it on white because it tends to end up speckly, more so on the spearmen where there's a lot of metal. I think I used a black wash on the metal on the banner pole to bring out the details on the metal parts.

Some blurry photos below and including far too much of my messy desk. smile.gif

Archers Musician (face on this guy is a bit of a mess, I've found a better technique now)
Silver Helms mounts, 6 of these left to paint and 8 riders to go
Selection of Elves

And some of the ork stuff I had to hand:

Old pic of some Orks and a barricade I built from spare bits and epoxy putty
Stompa, I've had chance to use this guy precisely once in about 3 years
Bug guns on the Stompa
And a big chainsaw arm
Giant exhausts
Skullhamma Battle Fortress (a Baneblade + Orky bits and big exhausts)
From the back
Drive me closer! I want to hit them with my sword

The planes in the background are another reason I've not had chance to paint much. >_> I'll probably get a bit more done once the current one is finished.

What's your army of choice? I'm curious to see some pics if you have any?

I can't find any pics of recent stuff right now, will try and take a few later.

Here's the standard bearer from my unit of archers:

I've been suffering a lack of motivation recently because I don't know many players local to me any more.

I did manage to paint a couple of High Elf Spearmen the other week though, when I do manage to play a game that tends to spur me on with the painting. smile.gif
