It's looking possible that I might be going to E3 this year to represent the game I'm working on. I'm hoping to wangle a few days in the US on the side to meet up with anyone I can.
This is all very sketchy at the moment, and it's not confirmed yet, but the prospects are quite good that I'll have a few days free, or evenings at the very least. So... Can anyone get to LA in the first week of June? -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

That is awesome and I think it would be great to see you! LA is like 8 hours away if I speed and hit good traffic, but I think I could attempt it. This is of course as long as you mean Los Angeles LA not Lousiana LA, but I'm going to assume it's Los Angeles.
My job situation is kind of iffy at the moment (I just say iffy because I'm trying really hard to get another one somewhere, anywhere) so I'd like to say that I can, but can't guarantee it. If I'm still with my current job by then I could try and take some time off and if I'm in another job I'll probably have weekends off, so perhaps a weekend? -------------------- ![]() Being Pimped By Aries Since 2003 |

I'm really not sure of dates, free days, or anything at the moment. I'll let you know as soon as anything firms up!
I think the E3 exhibition runs 2nd-4th June, and I think that plane tickets are cheaper on Saturdays, so the company will likely be buying those. I expect there will be preparations of some kind on the weekend of arrival, but hopefully I'll have a couple of days off afterwards. -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

Hey, you know what's near the southwest US?
...north-eastern...Canada. Have fun! If I'd chosen UCLA eight months ago I would totally say hello, but I also would probably be angry, overweight and blond. So perhaps it's for the better that I will not see you on this rare foray out of the UK. Eat many tacos--as many as you can. They are quality in that region of my country. -------------------- can I kiss your dopamine? In a way I wonder if she's living in a magazine |

Yep, unless there has been some gross misunderstanding, LA is short for Los Angeles, and not Little Aintree or anything similar. A couple of years ago, E3 was held in an only slightly glorified industrial shed (which is pretty much what I work in, TBH). A shed with minimal air-con in June in California, surrounded by lots of high tech stuff that pumps out lots of heat...? Yeah, that one sounded fun... Well, hopefully it should be a lot nicer this year!
I'm very excited about it, but I really don't have any more of an idea about what's going on yet. -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

You should totally wangle a ticket to PAX instead. LA sucks, and Seattle doesn't.
You could totally sell it to your company. E3 is all la-de-da business, frou-frou meh. PAX is 70,000 *gamers*, that is, 70k potential customers that will be looking at your game. Plus, it's in Seattle. Did I mention that? Speaking of wangling, I'm assuming you can't wangle me a pass into E3? LA's a gert long drive down the coast, but a day's drive in a convertible in June along the coast could be quite sweet. Oh, and hello. -------------------- Nearly two years in - about time for a new AV

I could try and wangle you a pass, but you wouldn't want to come. E3 is all la-de-da business, after all
It's been confirmed that I'll be allowed to take extra days off around the start of June, so I'll be doing a bit of a jaunt to visit people around the area. Hooray! -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

Hooray! You can barely move at PAX for folk pointing cameras and fuzzy mics on sticks around the place. Biggest gaming convention in the country, you know. Shedloads of coverage of it in the US gaming press, blogs etc. Plus, Seattle's lush in August LA is grim in August. Too hot and smoggy as all get-out. -------------------- Nearly two years in - about time for a new AV

Tell it to Sega. I don't have any say in this.
I was told today that Sega have changed their mind about the number of people that they want, so currently I'm not going to be sent to LA -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

What started with the Dreamcast is now complete. Sega has officially fallen from grace.
