Hey guys, it's been a while! Sorry I haven't dropped in to see you all before now; my life took a bit of a change of direction after I went to uni, and I haven't been so heavily involved in the internet since.
The reason I'm stopping by is to say: Oh no! The Matazone Wikipedia article is up for deletion. Matazone is not notable enough to merit a Wikipedia page apparently. Now, this is probably true, though it pains me to say it, but it's still not a bad article and I don't have the figures for the number of hits Matazone gets, so I think there's good cause for keeping it. So if any of you are involved with Wikipedia, do you reckon you could go over to Matazone's Article For Deletion page and vote against it being deleted? Thanks guys, hope to see some of you around (I think I'll be coming to the January Meet!). Polos. |

Not to be arguing for the deletion of the article here, as I disagree with the reason for deletion, but it's perhaps worthy of note that the Wikipedia Guide to Deletion apparently doesn't look to favourably on what it calls "meatpuppeting". Again, I'm not suggesting that this is what polo is after, just felt that perhaps it was worth mentioning if people were going to write something.
Edit: Do I recall correctly that StickScene was featured in a BBC programme? I figure that adds to its notability. Another edit: I also seem to recall mention of Mata's webart being reveiwed in a national newspaper or something similar, but I can't remember the details, nor can I find any information about it. Seeing as how the article is up for notability reasons, and the criteria for this involve references from published works, if someone could find a reference for this, I think that it would be useful in making the article meet that particular criterion. Notability of web stuff I should really be doing work: Ok, so it was the Guardian. But I can find two articles on webart on their site, but neither mention Matazone. I'm wondering why this is a site you don't want to visit first thing on a grey Monday morning. I know it was a nice review, but that last line has got me scratching my head. -------------------- ![]() Being Pimped By Aries Since 2003 |

I put in a link to the bbc write up on StickScene. Is there any link that shows MTV2 Europe's playlist?

I added a link to that scan of the review and mention of MTV2, as well as bringing this stuff up on the afd page. I think a reference showing lgg ans snaffleburger were aired on MTV would make it fit in with the criteria for notability without any particular complaint, but I can't find anything on the MTV2 site.

The MTV2 stuff was a few years ago, and back then my site got more hits per week than theirs did in an entire month so it's not surprising there's not a lot online.
There was an interview with me in Meltdown magazine about the same time, which mentions that the animations were on MTV2: http://www.meltdownmagazine.com/issue13.htm It's also referred to here (where my Skippy animation is referred to as one of the best of 2003 by b3ta.com): http://www.b3ta.com/features/bestofb3ta2003/ Cheers for supporting my inclusion in Wikipedia. I know I shouldn't really mind, but I would be disappointed if it was removed. Perhaps there should be a mention of Trouble Down Pit? -------------------- Trouble Down Pit: Still updated every Monday and Friday

Greeneyes: no, you're quite right, meatpuppeting is to be avoided. People should not create new accounts to support the Matazone article, but only support it if they are already Wikipedia editors.
It's great to hear there are good grounds for keeping the article going. If someone wants to insert those interviews and MTV showings, that would be brilliant. Perhaps a section called "Matazone in popular culture" or something similar would be appropriate. |

The first Little Goth Girl animation featured on the cover CD of the biggest goth magazine in Germany, alongside people like VNV Nation and I think Marilyn Manson was on there too. Unfortunately, the magazine is currently behind a stack of boxes containing Little Goth Girl handbags and I can't remember the name!

It didn't survive.
What annoys me about Wikipedia so much that they allow huge articles for each species of Pokemon, Minor objects in Star Wars/Star Trek/Lost etc, yet something that might have a bit of attention away from major Science Fiction fans is considered not worthy of its own article -------------------- The combined Nurse and Geisha of ISH!

Interestingly, one of the comments voting for deletion after the repost seemed to consider that while, say, lgg could be referenced as notable, it didn't transfer onto the website, so it may well be that an article on lg or snaffleburger might survive.

Fair enough, that sounds like a good reason to reiterate the previous content except with a heading article about LGG instead.
