I've been into Nine Inch Nails for some time now and have recently discovered Skinny Puppy and KMFDM.
I was wondering does any one else listen to industrial music, and if so could you suggest a few good bands?

The only industrial bands I'm into are Philler and Orgy. I recommend both, particularly Philler (they're more alterna-dustrial, but still).

Pandemonium by Killing Joke is pretty industrial, but then again so is Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy. It really depends what stage of industrial you're looking for. Some people would class VNV Nation as industrial, although I'd call it EBM, equally you could easily put forward an argument to say that 20 Jazz Funk Greats by Throbbing Gristle (there's not twenty tracks, it's not jazz, it's not funk, and they never had any hits) from 1979 was proto-industrial. Some people would say that Blink 182 are industrial!

You need : Ministry ( Twitch, The Land of Rape and Honey, The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste)

Anything by Front 242,
Anything by Frontline Assembly
Anything by Einzturzende Neubauten
Anything by :wumpscut:
Anything by Suicide Commando
Anything by Combichrist
Anything by Velvet Acid Christ
Early VNV Nation

Theres probably loads more that I can't think of right now....

Hope that helps smile.gif

How can anyone consider Blink 182 industrial?

I have downloaded a couple of songs by the artists that Tara mentioned (except Einzturzende Neubauten because I couldn’t find any)as well as Orgy and Throbbing Gristle, couldn’t find any Philler though.
I hove only had a brief listen to them, but so far I like what I’ve herd.
Thanks all

Are Velvet Acid Christ industrial? I'd consider them more in the EBM line of things... But it's all a bit of a grey area. In which case, get stuff by Assemblage 23 too.

EDIT: Neurotic Fish (I think that's their name) would also probably count.

I'd've said EBM, though Neuroticfish himself disagrees quite vocally (the song Prostitute on Les Chanteuses Neurotiques begins "Electronic Body Music is dead!").

Quite simply because there is no standard when it comes to classifying music by genre (we've had an assignment* in this and by god I'm gonna make it useful). Anyway, the whole thing is quite simply one big subjective mess, you tomato I say.....ok that doesn't translate well in to text, but you get the point. For this particular assignment I had to come up with two songs, one which conforms to a genre and another that defies classification, damn hardest thing to do, not really to write, but coming up with songs was a toughie. Though the guy who set it was one of those academic toss pots who didn't really care what you wrote about as long as your argument was viable. I chose 'Creek Mary's Blood' by Nightwish for the non-generic piece, most people who know Nightwish (ok all) will probably say "yeah, metal" but you listen to that particular track and there are a fair few influences which could be slightly more prominent.

...god how I hate academics...

*For a module entitled "Synthesis and Computer Based Audio Engineering"....go figure

Pliller Go to the "Digital" section and download away.

They're underground. They tour Florida a lot. They're four of the coolest people ever. The bassist is a fox. Listen. Love. Worship.

Einsturzende Neubauten is quite possibly the only industrial I'll listen to... I have two of their albums (used to have 3 but lost my copy of it). Orgy is good. I never really knew what to consider them though.

I would've gone with Revolution 9 by the Beatles. If you haven't listened to it, do so - it is quite...strange.
