Okay, I usually don't post emotional sap like this, but I think I've found the saddest song lyric EVAR. I heard it whilst browsing a dollar store. Let's see if anyone can beat this one.

I want you
I need you
But there ain't no way
I'm ever going to love you
Now don't be sad
'Cause two out of three ain't bad

Meatloaf - Two out of Three ain't Bad

... well hey if we put that song into context it ain't that sad ... it's more like what is expected of a saturday night fling ... BUT .. lets go for it:

"Naked, a sin, an army towel covering my belly,
some of us weap, some of us howl ... knees turn to jelly ... NEXT...NEXT
I was just a child, a hundred like me,
I followed a naked body, a naked body followed me ... NEXT... NEXT
I was just a child when my innocence was lost, in a mobile army whore-house, a gift from the army free of course ... NEXT ... NEXT"

Alex Harvey - Next (translated quite nicely form Jacques Brel - Au Suivant)

(edited cos the lyrics were wrong)

Ouch... Okay, that's worse than mine... Now I have to find something to rival that...

k, these aren't the saddest lyrics evar, but they're pretty close

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know, don't seem to care what your heart is for
But I don't know him anymore
There's nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's whats going on, nothing's fine I'm torn

I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late, I'm already torn

Torn - Natalie Imbruglia

Catch me if I fall
I'm losing hold
I can't just carry on this way
And every time
I turn away
Lose another blind game
The idea of perfection holds me
Suddenly I see you change
Everything at once
The same
But the mountain never moves

Rape me like a child
Christened in blood
Painted like an unknown saint
There's nothing left but hope
Your voice is dead
And old
And always empty
Trust in me through closing years
Perfect moments wait
If only we could stay
Please
Say the right words
Or cry like the stone white clown
And stand
Lost forever in a happy crowd

No one lifts their hands
No one lifts their eyes
Justified with empty words
The party just gets better and better

I went away alone
With nothing left
But faith

~the cure, "faith"

--------------------
And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin,
When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall,
Then how should I begin
To spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
And how should I presume?

GOLLUM'S SONG
performed by Emiliana Torrini
from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers soundtrack

Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try

These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame!
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home

So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me

Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try

These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame!

And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home

-----
Well...it sure makes me sad to hear that song and think about the lyrics.

--------------------
And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin,
When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall,
Then how should I begin
To spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
And how should I presume?

Metallica's One, when accompanied by the video, is the most depressing thing ever.

I couldn't agree more. It's probably one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen. From Johnny Gets his Wings or something like that, isn't it?

Again, I'm in complete agreement. I also find Life Becoming A Landslide quite a sad song. Not such a top-notch album, but that's a stunning song.

My Lord, you people listen to some good stuff.

nah, I reckon 4st 7lb?

(Quick, if you edit it before anyone sees, it'll be our little secret... Hehe) is a little bit sadder...

EDIT: Tara is proud of his shameful forgetfulness of song titles.

this is by one of the greatest unknown bands ever, Marry Me Jane... this song will rip your heart out...

You didn't kiss me how can I fall asleep?

I know you're there, but don't pick up cause I'll say everything
I know you don't care, you made that clear enough as I was leaving
I took your favorite overcoat, just wanted to return it
I know it's late, you're probably out, that's what you wanted anyway
I know how you hate it when I get too loud, but John you know I'm crazy
I'm wrapped around your favorite overcoat, don't think I can return it

You didn't kiss me
How can I fall asleep?
You didn't wish me very well
To say the least
Do you miss me?
If you said so should I believe you?
You didn't kiss me..

Hate your laugh, hate your lies, hate the chance I took on you
Hate the past in your eyes, hate the war you put me through
Hate myself for believing this could come to anything at all

I'm wrapped around your favorite overcaot
Don't think I can return it

How can I fall asleep?
You didn't wish me very well
To say the least
Do you miss me?
If you said so should I believe you?
You didn't kiss me..

Commie has a point... but, Whatever.

this song brings me to tears almost every time: sad.gif

what of the mother whose house is in flames
and both of her children are in their beds crying
and she loves them both with the whole of her heart
but she knows she can only carry one at a time?
she's choking on the smoke of unthinkable choices
she is haunted by the voices of so many desires
she's bent over from the business of begging forgiveness
while frantically running around putting out fires

but then what kind of scale compares the weight of two beauties
the gravity of duties or the ground speed of joy?
tell me what kind of gauge can quantify elation?
what kind of equation could i possibly employ?
and you'll never know, dear just how much i loved you
you probably think this was just my big excuse
but i stand committed to a love that came before you
and the fact that i adore you is just one of my truths

school night is one of the most haunting songs ever.. but a lot of that is in the way Ani sings it.. it is like her heart was ripped out and she is singing to it..

La Tristesse Durera (I've no energy to check the spelling on that, sadly) and Roses in the Hospital are also firm favourites of mine.

I thought "La Tristesse Durera" was a bit annoying when I first heard it, but it's become a favourite of mine lately as well. And "Roses in the Hospital" is just brilliant.

The Holy Bible is by far my favourite album, though. It's the most miserable thing I've ever heard, but I can't seem to stop listening to it.

Anything off of HIM's Razorblade Romance is extremely sad. . . I cry when I here this one sometimes. There's another but it might make my

"One Last Time"

Is it so hard to believe our hearts
Are made to be broken by love
That in constant dying lies
The beauty of it all
My darling won't you feel
The sweet heaven in
Our endless cry

Oh at least you could try
For this one last time

So amazed how bright are the flames
We are burning in
Ever smiled at the tragedies
We hold inside
My darling won't you cherish
The fear of life that keeps
You and me so alive

Oh at least you could try
For this one last time
It could be alright
For this one last time

Oh at least you could try
(and we just will be closer)
For this one last time
(let me fall into your arms)
It could be alright
(don't let us grow colder)
For this one last time
(let me close to your heart)

Oh at least you could try
(and before it's over)
For this one last time
(let me fall into your arms)
It could be alright
(before it's all over)
For this one last time
(let me close to your heart)

Again, I'm in much agreement.

What I find unusual about it is that, on the whole, musically it's rather bouncy. I mean, not all of it, but Yes, IfWhiteAmerica..., PCP, etc., could all be cheerful songs if you didn't dare listen to the lyrics. I think that's why I like it so much.

When I first heard the Manics I didn't understand how it was possible for songs to have lyrics like that but still be so catchy. It's still vaguely disconcerting having those songs stuck in my head when I'm in a good mood. Being all bouncy and cheerful and humming "Yes" or "Die in the Summetime" without realizing it. It's pretty strange, but cool in a way. I can't think of any other bands that could do that so well.

Apart from Evanescenses My Immortal - first song to ever make me cry, and the only other one that does the same thing to me is Disarm by Smashing Pumpkins, I consider this to be the saddest song. My ex best friend gave me the lyrics as a suicide note. I cried all that night and the next day. She is still alive.

The Minute of Decay - Marilyn Manson

there's not much left to love,
too tired today to hate,
I feel the empty,
I feel the minute of decay,

I'm on my way down now, I'd like to take you with me
I'm on my way down,

the minute that it's born,
it begins to die,
I'd love to just give in,
I'd love to live this lie,

I've been to black and back,
I've whited out my name,
a lack of pain, a lack of hope,
a lack of anything to say

there is no cure for what is killing me,
I'm on my way down,
I've looked ahead and saw a world that's dead
I guess that I am too

--------------------
user posted image

I lie, I wait, I stop, I hesitate, I am, I breathe, I meant, I think of me. Is it any wonder I can't sleep? All I have is all you gave to me. Is it any wonder I found peace through you? Its not enough, just a touch. Its not enough. I taste, I love, I come, I bleed enough, I hate, I'm not, I was, I want too much. Its not enough, just a touch. Its not enough.
