Despite being a fairly rational person, whenever I hear the word "girl" spoken in a rapscalliony London accent (or worse, Yorkshire) I go all weak and wobbly. This has led to a self-imposed ban of Sex Pistols songs in public...alas.

Fernandina Beach, Florida has the oldes saloon in the nation and is the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry.
There was a mass grave during a disease outbreak in what was to become Fort Clinch State Park (which is literally right behind my house). There is a Civil War battleground near my old house (near Old Town, the original Fernandina Beach). Old Town has a street called Ladies' Street where sailors (many of whom were pirates) would go to pick up prostitutes. The News Leader is Florida's oldest newspaper. Memorial United Methodist Church (where I go) is the oldest Methodist church in Florida.
