QUOTE (froggle-rock @ Dec 4 2013, 11:30 AM) *
I never imagined I would have to do this, but I am not at all happy with being trolled for SS. Rattagirl decided to send me pea candles.

Cand, Lo, please don't ever give me her as a giftee, nor to receive SS presents from again. sleep.gif

Edit: Given it in to a charity shop.

I am quite terribly sorry. As it was not for consuming, but was in fact for destroying (by fire!), I had thought it would make for a funny gag gift. I honestly didn't think it would go over so badly. I apologize as fervently as possible through this admittedly poor medium.

I hope the practice nail art nails and frog mitt were less heinous gifts.

Ratt.

QUOTE (LoLo @ Nov 25 2013, 10:35 PM) *
Food can be done, just keep in mind that it takes around a week or more for a package to arrive depending on size.

The shipping also gets very expensive very quickly, so we often recommend ordering from amazon.co.uk or some place similar and having it shipped straight to the person to save on shipping.

Unfortunately that last part takes a bit of the fun of personalization of packaging and what not out, so depending on your budget and what you want to do, it's up to you.

I spent 60 once to send a very awesome personalized gift. laugh.gif

Rule-breaker!! *shaky fisty*
I suppose this is true. Overseas shipping of even tiny, light things quickly becomes prohibitively pricey. Off I go to troll the Amazon!

Real quick question for those of us with overseas giftees: food is an ok, yes? The gifting thereof, I mean. We all know food is ok. Food is good for you. EET FOODZ OAR DIE spake the cook.

Name: Rattgirl (admittedly, I haven't been active on the forums since 2002, but I still keep in touch via Facebook!)
Previous victims: n/a
Likes: plushies, mint-flavored things, yummy coffee, dyeing my hair odd colors, cooking cooking cooking and food - related things, porters and stouts, puns, Eccleston as The Doctor, giraffes, things that don't break easily as I have a toddler, cats, puggles, gremlins and gargoyles. Yarn because crocheting is totally the only hobby I can manage these days. Pretty much anything related to Neil Gaiman. LGG. Shiny things because I was a magpie/cat/rodent in a past life I swear. Things made by hand, up to and including macaroni pictures.

Dislikes: anything considered "pop music/fashion" after 1998. Liver. Lima beans. Scented candles (which I actually love but my child thinks they are edible), things made out of plastic, horror movies and torture porn.

Oops...I said we...I lied, it's just me celebrating, but at least it's a party!!!!

Behold, I have returned from my time in my own personal Elba! A few changes have been made....this puter, hopefully, will be a good puter and not suck as much as the last one did (iMacG5 and I will defend it to the utter death! Ha! Take that, Mac-haters!....wait, are there any Mac-haters in Mataworld??).....I also am now older by ummm.....a little over half a year. Okay, so I haven't been gone forever, but it certainly feels like it!!

Anyone remember the lovable cuddly Ratt?

..as the soon-to-be next-door-neighbor of our illustrous Aries (who is the man they call...Aries....?) I can say that without a doubt, I WILL be able to attend this meet! *snicker snicker*

And since I've been gone for who-knows-how-long (computer still in coma....but at least the library reopened so I can get online again!) I know my opinion holds ever so much weight here. Truly! So...I do have some suggestions and some attempts at swaying the hearts and minds of the populace.

First....Chicago would definitely be way cool...I've only been there once, in 1998, to go to a concert and be touristy for a weekend, but it was fun. If we do go to Chi-town, we should stay at the HoJo downtown and EVERYONE MUST EAT AT ED DEBEVOKS!!!!!! *ahem* Anyway...

Other suggestions, as alternates to Chicago (and I know others have made these suggestions, I'm just putting in my vote, limited as it is) I'd like to suggest:

1) St. Louis, MO...lots of little towns nearby with very cheap hotels, and cool things to see in St. Louie!
2) Omaha, NE...the Central US's most awesomest zoo ever! How can anyone resist the urge to see the polar bears and badgers? And flamingoes! And pengies! And pandas! I mean, seriously, how many animals must I name? hehe
3) Iowa City, IA...Yes, I know. But contrary to popular belief, there are more things to do here than just Aries, JadeS and Rattgirl! wink.gif muahahahaha...we have the best downtown bar setup anyone could ask for (at least, in terms of "how far do we have to go to get to the next bar? Next door? Niiiiice..." but also we have jazz bars, dance bars, piano bars (literally..one is called The Piano Bar), a great gay bar...all within 5 blocks of each other!) We're also within a half-hour drive of Cedar Rapids, which has more cool things to do. There's the Mall (yeah yeah shaddup! I like malls. They're interesting), the brand new pool (complete with waterslides! Coralvilletopia?) lots of parks, Shakespeare on the Green, and the Ped Mall!
4) Ok, I guess Kansas City, MO too...we could get a group discount on going to Worlds of Fun happy.gif.

anyway, that's my 15 cents' worth. Now the computer is going to boot me off for I have done other things and wasted my 45-minute limit. Grrrr. Stupid timed computers.

Much agreement here smile.gif I really like the color scheme. While the fuzzy background does make the font a little harder to read, I'm afraid if she were to sharpen it, it would interefere too much with the heading at the top.....*shrug* Maybe that's just me.

When it comes to Photoshoppy stuff, the bf and I are making little pieces of whatsis all the time there...I'll have to remember to post some of it on here from time to time.

I would love, as you English people call peculiarly "plushies" (we go for stuffed animals, and my parents referred to them as "friends" when we were young laugh.gif)

Erm.....I"m not English and I call them Plushies....and it's more of a weird separate thing for me...

the ones I own are my stuffed animals

the ones I contemplate the funding of are called plushies (possibly because I think that's now the market term for them but I"m not sure)

the ones other people own are called toys

I can't explain it blink.gif

Yeah!!!! happy.gif Nausicaa was actually my very very first exposure to Manga. A friend of mine loaned me the entire series and said "You must have these read by the end of next week!" They're what got me into anime and manga in the first place!

I guess you could say I've been away for a while, but since I don't think anyone really noticed, I guess I don't really see why I'm posting here....

although I'm going to be going away for a week to Milwaukee on Wednesday, so I guess I'm kinda going away again...o_O

I dunno.....I think i'm not here enough and I feel bad for not being here very often, especially since my most cuddleliscious Freaky (Enslaved) is here all the time....so um....yeah. Me. Or something. I'm here right now though, does that count? unsure.gif
