Then again, Jet Set Willy was perhaps even more punishing, although that was mainly due to the necessity for pixel perfect jumping.

You've got to love Matthew Smith's "I managed to complete the level once therefore it's doable" approach to QA. smile.gif

I got Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Geometry Wars: Galaxies as birthday presents. Umbrella Chronicles, unfortunately is a rather run off the mill on rails shooter but is playable in small bursts even if it could do without the heavily quick time event based bosses. Geometry Wars on the Wii is great fun and pretty much what I expected it to be and doesn't look too ugly on the Wii either.

I recently went and bought Command and Conquer: Saga, mainly for the addon packs I was missing in the earlier games but C&C 3 turned out to be quite fun too. The only real gripe is that it's essentially more of the same and that the camera doesn't pull out quite as far as I'd like.

After my 360 expired (and more serious things went rather nastily wrong) a couple of weeks ago, Sues went out and bought a Wii to cheer me up. It's good fun, but I think that in four or five years the graphics are going to seem positively stone-age compared to the other systems. I know why Nintendo made the choice to use existing simple graphics technology, but I'm not sure I agree with them.

I've started on a cheap second-hand Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, which I'd missed in every previous incarnation. It seems pretty good so far (about an hour in), but the controls feel pretty weird at the moment and I remain undecided about whether the system is suitable for the more 'classic' gaming genres.

I've been sucked into (and can't seem to be let go by) a MMO called Pirates of the Burning Sea recently... there's just something about the time period that is terribly appealing, and the ship combat is freaking amazing.

'Course, like all these types of games, beware if you're the easily-bored type, since it's got the obligatory repetitiveness of such things. Though, I find it infinitely more appealing since I can Yarr! at my enemies and maintain a harem of sailors to stare at my stern... of my boat, of course. *grin*

Quite a bit. Most of my "gaming" time is on COD4 online, but I've had a few in between. Dynasty Warriors 6, which I had been waiting for ages to get, turned out to be terrible. Just started RSV2, and I'm struggling to get to grips with the online, but the co-op is brill.

I've currently been playing some Mario 64 on Virtual Console and also replaying Commandos 2.

I'm looking for a copy of Earthworm Jim on the SNES at the mo but there don't seem to be too many about for a decent price. sad.gif

I would download from the virtual console, but the classic controller just doesn't feel right. And you can tell that some of the N64 games are meant to be played with the N64 analouge stick.

I bought an NTSC import of Super smash bros. brawl and a thing called a freeloader, which gets rid of region locking without chipping the console. It's quite a thrilling game. Won my first online match and the graphics are just awesome.

I just completed Crackdown on the 360 and it's awesome if a bit shallow. Good fun in co-op too.

Looking forward to playing the new Mario Kart tomorrow at work too. biggrin.gif

Screw computers; Nerf Guns are where it's at.

Tonight I am playing (well, running) Cult, a Live Action And I Avoid the Term RPG Because If This Thing Was A Computer Game It'd Be More Like A Cross Between Resident Evil And Rainbow Six Than Any Role Playing Game Survival Horror. Once again we get locked in a building over night and take turns to shoot nerf darts at people with fake blood on their face and it's way scarier than it ought to be.

The port of Ikaruga on XBox Live Arcade now owns my soul. I close my eyes and see black and white dots. :S

Level 3 is currently kicking my arse about half way through. D:

Pokemon Pearl, Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Sapphire, and Pokemon Leaf Green. Yes, all at the same time (not literally, I just switch to another when one gets boring) and yes, I've played them each through at least twice before. I need to get over Pokemon and buy other games for my DS.

edit: UGH, MMORPGs.
I played Ragnarok Online for a couple of years. That game lost its wonder with me the second I became a GM while I was seeing another GM. The accusations of cheating and bias and the nasty names I was called by 40+ people I had never met just..killed it. Argh, people can be such jerks on the wrong MMORPGs.

How good is GTA4 really? GTA3 was fun, but got old fast. The one after that was a lolsequal that was pretty much the same game. I hear the one after THAT one was roughly the same thing but with more liberal usage of the N-bomb.

Im not sure if GTA4 is gonna be all that worth it. Someone sell me on it, prease.
