(Btw, if this thread has already started, moderators please delete or move to appropriate topic, thanks).

Hey all.

I haven't been here for a long time - I was a good mate of Dayan, I knew him for 13 or 14 years I think and he lived in the block next to me.

Is anyone doing anything one year on? If so let me know.

Cheers guys,

Andrew

Hello, I remember you!

I'd planned to hang out online for a while with the guys, then drink vodka and watch 'Fight Club'. Seemed the most appropriate thing to do.

That seems a worthy tribute. Me and Dayan got drunk on JD on the few occassions we did (I didn't drink proper till 17, what a shame), so that we'll have to include.

You reckon people might be able to do a meet up in a pub somewhere as well or at someone's place?

It would be nice to meet at the Worlds End on the 1st December like the wake last year...but that's probably slightly impracticle, for my part, I'll probably listen to Doolittle and other such Dayan-y related tunes, particularly that song wink.gif

Yeah, I'd not say no to the World's End. First of December is a Wednesday...

Hi Redcoat, nice to have you on here.

There haven't been any formal plans, made as yet. Personally I'm rather skint from going out this weekend plus the seasonal strains and wasn't planning on doing much for a few weeks, but if there are a load of people who want to meet up in London then I'd see what I could do, otherwise I'll probably be doing similar things to those mentioned above, listening to The Pixies and toasting him.

Pretty much what I was planning on as well. I have a whole (half) bottle of vodka to get through this week, and thats a few toasts I'll sure enjoy wink.gif. And then of course is the lifeblood tour Manics thing on the 14th of december, and I have two tickets, just like I promised him...

Hey Andrew! Did my e-mail prompt you to come back here?

I'm gonna make cockbaskets, of course (hmm, can I say that on here?). So I need to buy gin. I've never had gin before.

I'm also going to watch Fight Club, listen to Pixies, go to IRC, and just try to be happy cause that's what he'd want. I'm treating it as a kind of New Year, cause his death is what kicked off this whole crazy year for me, and now that the year is over....I want to start anew and move on. I think that's also a fitting tribute....moving on. Cause he'd want that, too.

I've not gone to bed yet but I now have a hangover starting! I've listened to The Pixies and toasted his name.

I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but that's the way things are when suicide happens, you always expect that there will be more time. I've taken a lesson from him to try and appreciate things as they are more often. I've found the last year odd. It's amazing how often he comes to mind.

I've been thinking about a meet in London and to be brutally honest I'm not sure that I want to. I don't want to spend my life mourning. I'm sad at the loss of him still, but I can't live my time punctuated by refreshing the sadness, and I suspect that he would have agreed with that sentiment. I won't forget him, but I don't want to mourn him any more either. I hope you understand what I mean, it's a difficult emotion to explain in words.

I actually found out a couple of months ago what 'Un Chien Andalusia' is. It's the name of a film by Dali in which there are lots of different surreal scenes, the first of which is an eyeball being sliced open, hence the lyric.

I have also heard the 'an Andalusian dog' used as a phrase but I couldn't work out what it was supposed to mean from the context, but I assume that it was somehow a reference to a surrealist production.

I couldn't find any gin, but I'm listening to The Pixies. I understand what you mean by not wanting to have a meet Mata. It makes complete sense.

Not been here for a good while myself, just been randomly lurking from time to time...thought I'd drop in and...yup...that was all really. All hail vodka and Doolittle, the only things asides from Benson and Hedges Dayan had undying respect for tongue.gif

ditto to that, wow, one year. what the hell. so much has changed. he was one of the 2 major reasons that drew me back to the forums. and i cant believe i had to come back to discover his death. whenever i hear anything about the pixies, i will always think of him. i wish i could chat with him now, tell him about how different everything is now than it was a year ago for me, tell him i missed him, thank him for helping me when i was in a really bad situation where i was sort of being stalked online......... etc. THANK YOU DAYAN. i love you still.

bugger, randomtrout!! that was it!

anyway, I have to agree with Mata, as much as he is missed, and he is missed, maybe not so much as by some people, but his memory needs to be laid to rest, the song Debaser will never be the same again, but I won't stop enjoying it

edit: also we could have shared the joy/misery of have internation girlfriends >_> tongue.gif

I didn't use yesterday to mope around being sad and missing Dayan. I used it to honor his memory by being happy and remembering the fun times we had together, and spending the day with everyone we used to talk with. That was...great. We haven't all chatted like that in a really long time.

Plus we all did silly things that Dayan once did as tributes. Well, some of us did, anyway. The ice > all. tongue.gif

I agree...we shouldn't still mourn him. But I don't want to quit remembering him, either. I think doing it in a happy way is best...at least for me. Cause that's what he'd have wanted, anyway.

I can't even believe it's been a year. that blows my mind.

yesterday .. the iRC was great. I tried to get in today too, but nobody was there - so oh well. I toasted, I listened to the pixies practically all day, smoked to him in the rain to the pixies, danced around to debaser, watched fight club, and generally reflected. you'd think it'd have been a terrible day, but I can honestly say yesterday was the best day I've had all year only because I felt like he was there, and because everyone was so together and in synch with eachother.

here's to you, hustlebunny.

We were there a lot of the day. But not the old channel. #burrito. The old channel isn't even registered, anymore.

Question....Did people go to #randomtrout yesterday too? I thought when we said the old channel, we meant The One That Must Not Be Named.

Is The One That Must Not Be Named the usual one for people these days, or is #burrito the norm? I'm rarely on IRC (it eats time) so on the occasions I do go on there it would be nice to know I'm in the right one!

Not that I'm on IRC much these days, but we only resurrected TOTMNBN for the night - though I'd like to see the old crowd in there some more, we had fun. #burrito is the usual one.
