I think my best present this year was the film Don Juan Demarco. It's a less-famous Johnny Depp film where he plays a mental patient who probably is insane but who has a far nicer version of reality than everyone else. It was a last-minute pick by Sues, and is one of the very few romantic movies that I really enjoy. It was a surprise to get it, but a really lovely one.

Another great thing I got was the chance to spend some time playing with my baby cousin. He's 13 months old and brilliantly behaved. It was also rather amusing when he kept on falling over and giggling. His parents were ver confused because normally he's very firm on his feet... Until we realised he'd had some of the alcohol soaked christmas pudding! laugh.gif

What's the best thing that you got last year?

(This is also an attempt to get people to post more happy things in Daily Life. This bit of the forum is supposed to reflect the nice things as well as the problems! Bring on the happification!)

Aw, drunk babes! smile.gif

In all honesty I like the socks I got the best, they are the glove kind. And they are stripy (made sure I spelt it right this time tongue.gif) and furzzy. Hehe. Only think is, they make me look like I have Fraggle feet blink.gif

Sometimes last munite pressie make the bestest ones, go Sues!

*does 'perma smile' impression* Is this happy enough for you Mata?

Hmmm - ultimately it would be the corset my Mum brought me. Something I've wanted for a few years now and haven't been able to justify the money for. And, I look damn spanking in it!!! biggrin.gif

And purely for the sheer sweetness of it - my friend Chris copied every album that Roxette have ever released. But it doesn't stop there, oh no!! He knows that I prefer to buy albums rather than copy because I like to have the little book and the CD with the graphics and all sorts. So, he has copied all the inserts and the graphics and included them.

That means a lot - there are about 10 albums there. The download time would have been maybe five hours but the inserts and stickers for the disks would have certainly taken some time.

He makes me cry sometimes(the good kind) - he just puts so much thought into it. smile.gif

For Christmas of 2003 I got the then bf a balloon flight over Calgary. I thought it was so cool that when I got a chance to get a second one (for me biggrin.gif ) I jumped at it. July 2004 I started trying to book a flight.

Today!! Today I floated over Calgary! Wow! Yay!

My favorite would probably have to be a tie between the pocket watch from my mother (I feel like turn-of-the-century-English gentry every time I take it out) and an enormous bag of feathers from my brother. They're all different sizes and colors and I spent a sneezy weekend sorting them all out--18 bags full. So far I've enjoyed putting them in my hair, to simulate green/cyan/fireenginered streaks. The two were probably the most clever and brilliant gifts I've ever recieved, and there was much rejoicing.

Hmm... well, I was told that I would get a kitten for Christmas, and I got a litter box, but I'm still waiting on the kitten. I also found out that I am going to have a baby not too long ago and well, that is the miracle of life and who can beat that, eh? biggrin.gif

yay for baby! furry or not!

My best gift was a block of welfare cheese. If you not from the states and born in the 70's you will have no idea what I am talking about. To sum it up welfare cheese, the US Government gave poor folks bulk peanut butter, bread, cheese, rice, and powdered milk back in the early 80's. Well the best of the lot was a 2 ft long block of cheese.. Lovingly known as welfare cheese.
My grandmother would make a cheese sandwich with it and wrap it in tinfoil and place it on the furnace about two hours before I got home from school. By the time I got home it would be a gooey buttery sandwich of goodness.
Well after telling my mom this story a few months ago she tracked down the closest possible match for Christmas. I have cheese for months!!!

My best christmas present was the plane ticket home to see all of my family and friends. The actual plane ride wasn't exactly a treat but by the time I stepped onto the tarmac in Saskatoon I was so excited even though I'd been awake for some 30 hours I ran all the way to my brother and my friends who had come to pick me up. Also it was snowing and freaking cold out in Canada. Holy crumb was it cold out! Anyways, I thanked my parents profusely for the ticket and my mom just smiled and said that it wasn't my christmas present, it was hers.

Oh, also I got a set of all the original X Men cartoons burned onto about 17 CDs from my best friend Sarri, which I think I'm supposed to return to her, but I might just "forget" tongue.gif

Aww welcome to the mummy's club Asenyth!!!
My best pressie was a dancemat for the playstation and a game to go with it. The game has a built in fitness mode so when I'm dancing I can see just how many calories I've lost, the equivalent of skipping rope turns I would have made etc.
And, one of the tracks is Lovecats by The Cure
Sweet!!
