I just thought I'd ask... being the proud mum... One of my little weasles is famous and all that. Woooo Bueller! There is a little bit of jealousy happening with Yoshi though... she just looks at it like 'what's she got that I haven't got?' I'm sure she'll get over it with lots of ferret therapy.

Thanks for making my Day, Mata

Yay for ferrets!

Though I was bitten by a ferret once.

I hate ferrets.

But Mata likes ferrets and that means they are good.

I love ferrets!

I like to look at ferrets. They are very cute indeed, and exceptionally lovable characters.

However, I wasn't really moved to hold them or do more than look. I don't have a good sense of smell so I was immune to that aspect of them, but apparently it would have been quite noticable if I held them, so I decided to give that side of things a miss.

That's a ferret? I didn't know what it was, but it looked really cute. Hmmm, I have a disliking for ferrets, no idea why. I didn't know they could be that cute.. awwww smile.gif

I love ferrets. I've been clawed by them, stepped in their poo, had to clean up their poo despite the fact they weren't my ferrets, and had to chase them around my house despite the fact they wreen't my ferrets.

But they were soooo cute.

i'm not so crash hot about ferrets my brother had a pair and they spent half their time attacking each other and then they'd ecape from his room to chase my cats, my labradore and climb up my bird cage and when i tried to stop them doing this they hissed and chased me out of the room.
And on a seperate ocasion my brother lets them out of the cage at night with all the doors in the house open (mine is open for my cats to get out to the litter tray) and one of his ferrets climbed into my bed and bit my neck while i was sleeping and when i woke up i couldn't pull the thing off for half a minute then it hissed at me and tried to bite me again so i droped it off my bed and it humped up and tried to climb up again so i threw books at it while it hissed and bared it's teeth and then it scutled away after musking my spare fabric basket. mad.gif
i don't like ferrets at all at all they're the only animal i've ever had that i'd never have again and which i wished harm on. unsure.gif

I've met not nice ferrets... Ours are very nice. Very laid back. To a certain extent, they came to us that way... though Yoshi was a little misled on how hard it was okay to bite humans when playing. We soon sorted her out about that though... I think nasty ferrets vs nice ferrets has everything to do with parenting the weasles...

And yes, Ferret Bueller. (grin) We couldn't help ourselves

How much effort do you have to put into looking after little Ferret Bueller (argh, the pun! How could you?).

Suprisingly little. biggrin.gif Bueller and her buddy Yoshi have two water bottles on their cage and a gravity feeder so we refill water about twice a week and food twice a month... scoop the litter box every third day or so.. They sleep 18 hours a day and the other 6 are spent eating, grooming, pooing (in a litter box), and playing. At the moment we just let them stay in the conservatory with the cage door open. We can leave them for a three day weekend and they are just fine running about on their own.

They are *very* curious though. We had to painstakingly ferret proof the conservatory before they could be loose on their own in it... just to make sure that they can't get into anything they wouldn't be able to get out of.

I don't want it to sound like we ignore them. They love playing with us and being chased by or chasing us. It's just not essential for them. They keep themselves entertained if we aren't playing with them.

*Edit, this was posted by Mrs Jonman... didn't realize he had logged on in my profile... If jonman had answered the question he would have said 'none at all' because it's not his job. dry.gif

I could go on and on... Ferrets kick ass.

Did you have either or both of them fixed? I hear it can be a factor in calming them. (That and aparently if ferrets -possibly only females- don't breed regularly, they can die)

We used to let out hamster run around in the conservatory. A cat would sometimes come and sit at the conservatory door and watch little Tommy run around. It was great fun when Tommy noticed him there and ran over to say hello. The cat would look helpless as Tommy tried to scramble up the glass in front of it.

I miss the little fella.

Evil spoon! Nice weasles. tongue.gif

We did have both of them fixed. Female ferrets need to mate or get a hormone injection once and sometimes even twice while in season unless they are fixed. Otherwise they can become anemic and die.

Ferrets are super great but it's little things like that (or that they are lactose intolerant) that makes reading up on them a super good idea before you decide to get one (or more).

Speaking of neighborhood cats, there's a big orange Tom that hangs out by our sliding door. I wonder what he thinks about the ferrets... I wonder who would win in a fight...

I'd say ferrets would. My sister's cat is afraid of my little girl. And when I say little I mean she's half the size of my male. Also my male likes to provoke our dogs tongue.gif

But of course I don't let them fight, I just think ferrets would win because they're pretty much fearless.
