My video player broke friday night and today is monday. As i livein a crappy town nothing was open so i couldn't get it fixed over the weekend and offensive of offensive today when i tried to get it fixed by a profesional i got a stack of quotes of between $40 and $70 just to look at it that doesn't include fixing.
And i looked into a new one and was looking absolute minimum i was looking at was $80 for a no name no warranty player and $179.95 for a player with 1 year warranty.
So totally disgusted with these prices i desided to try to fix the thing myself.
And when i opened the top i found the following.
dust bunnies
17 glass seed beads
dog and cat hair
grass
plastic fork prongs
an earing back
a pin
crochet hook
a small peice of bread
and the thing that was messing it up.....string that had wound around the right turning thing so every time i tried toplay a video it spat out a foot of tape then chewed it.
Needless to say i fixed it and got to see exactly how it worked inside(i wasn't the sort of kid to take things apart) and mum has officially said that as she was going to toss the video (even though I'm pretty much the only one who uses it) that given that i fixed it i have video rights and that peopleare no longer allowed to pull out my timed videos.

On another note I've been happy this week as last week i stopped cleaning anywhere outside my room and she realised how much i do and as such has now made it so they have to wash up twice a week, do one load of washing, take their own things to their rooms and do 4 jobs on top of that.
In a week the place is looking better and the yard and middle room have been cleaned which i havn't been able to do while trying to keep on top of everything else.
Call me strange but i just feel more relaxed in a cleanish house.

Nice work!

It's always very satisfying when you manage to sort something out yourself, that others would charge you for (particularly the case with the multitude of computer problems that can arise) - and probably do a lesser job of.

I imagine it was her little siblings. I know my little cousins were CONSTANTLY trying to shove things where they didn't belong when they were younger. Any slot, nook, or cranny was a target.

i suspect that some of it was kirk and laura but the plastic fork prongs could have been me trying to things like biscuits out without being electricuted.

this is very good last night my brother was tired from actually doing things rather than waking up at noon eating breaky on the lounge while lying down turning over to read turning back over for dinner turning on his side to watch telly and then flipping over to sleep.
and cos he was sleeping i could watch my semi inapropriate videos without him critisicing them biggrin.gif

Good going!

It costs 80.00 and up for a vcr, there? Here, they've been down to fifty and less, since the DVD craze hit... it's actually cheaper now to buy a new one, than get the old repaired...
