Have had a terrible day, First I wake up with a crick in my neck, not too bad so I go to school. Then I have 3 injections which leave my left arm numb. Then the pain in my neck gets worse and I can hardly move my neck. Then I have to play water-polo. Then it gets to the point where I can't move my head at all or it will hurt really really bad. Then in an unconnected incident I nearly faint and am sick. Then I lie down and nearly pass out with the pain of getting back up again (from my neck).

Now I have two lots of coursework to do and I am in considerable amounts of pain and I look like a gimp because I have to hold my head down against my left shoulder to try to minimise the pain.

/pity whoreness

Give it a good sharp jerk. It'll either straighten your neck out (and no more pain) or it could break your neck. You'd die, but look on the bright side; there'd be no more Mr Nasty Neck Pain. Its a win-win situation. Sort of...

But seriously, get plenty of rest. Don't bother with the coursework. If the pain is so great, you're not going to be doing to the best of your ability, so what I would do is ask for more time and do it when your neck isn't searing with pain.

Thanks little bear. The only problem is that both of the pieces of coursework are already very late, so I really have to do them.

But now I'm going to have a hot bath to see if that helps

Ok, first, try massaging the are where it hurts. Yes, it will probably hurt like hell, but it does actually help. Just press lighter if there's too much pain.

And if you have a heating pad, try using that over the area, because it'll help to relax whatever's a bit disgruntled in there. Hot towels sometimes work too.

*HUG* feel better, and thanks for your overdue hugs!

*hugs* Hot packs. They help a lot -- especially when wrapped in a slightly moist towel.

ouch! Try getting a friendly little pillow to attach itself around your neck for all leaning purposes. And do the robot at every opportunity. It probably won't help, but it's damn amusing.

Well, my friend gives the most EVIL hugs. I mean, it starts normal, then she kinda wraps her arms really tight round you like an octopus and squeezes really hard until you can't breathe and your arms are like OWOWOWOWOW! And this is her morning ritual for EVERY DAY!

Well, yay that you're getting better! (I've already said that haven't I...)

Every so often I get a pain like that in my lowerback... Turning the shower on as hot as I can stand, and playing it over the area for about fifteen minutes helps... as does a strategically placed heating pad, and wicked amounts of Ibuprofin or Doans pills (ASpirin doesn't do all that good a job, on body aches...). I've also found that, ironically, working the muscles actually helps lessen the pain, in the long run... Hurts like hell, in the here and now, but it shortens the amount of time the pain hangs on...

Anyway, hang in there... these things are usually either muscle cramps or a crimped nerve, in my experience, and both work themselves out, in time... *hugs*
