Okay, I may at some point get confirmed (RC), and I was recently wondering what I should have as my confirmation name. You must choose the name of a saint, so I shopped around, as it were, and found these three gems.

Polycarp
Guthlác
Maelmhaedhoc

Clearly, these all have their good points. So, poll away!

NB: I likely will ignore you all when and if I eventually decide to get confirmed.

EDIT: Here, have some catholic encyclopedia information, for a different spin.

Polycarp
Guthlác
Maelmhaedhoc

Incidentally, I also quite like the name Malachy.

JERUSALEM, Israel (AP) - In response to Israel's denial of water to the West Bank, HAMAS released three cheetahs in West Jerusalem, where they went on a killing spree, mauling four Jews and injuring thirteen.

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - Following a cheetah attack on West Jerusalem perpetrated by the majority HAMAS party, the Israeli Air Force retaliated by detonating twenty kiloton nuclear devices over Gaza City, Jenin, Nablus, Rafah, and Ramallah.

ASHDOD, Israel (AP) - As a result of the atomic bombings of five Palestinian cities, a 50-foot tall reptile has woken from its million-year slumber in the Mediterranean Sea. The monster has made landfall at Ashdod and obliterated the city. Eyewitnesses report that the monster left the destroyed city heading southeast.

I'm going to have to go with Maelmhaedhoc, because the 'ae' letter combination is the most beautiful one you can make with this alphaebet.

Well, Guth was astride a pagan and Christian culture.

Poly may have been the last man to truly know the teachings of Christ before they began to degrade through generations of Chinese whispers.

Mael was an end-times prophet and visionary.

It's really up to you. Choose whichever has the characteristics that you most assoicate with. Personally I'd go for Guthlác if I had to, I like his story, his name doesn't sound like a technologically advanced fish, and it is easier to spell than Maelhaemaaehaehadadoc.

Hehe. Yup, up to you, but I like Guthlác best. Then again I don't know the history of the names like Mata does. So my opinion isn't too valid. tongue.gif

Interesting... I do a google search to find out what the saintly virtues are, and this comes up as the first result.

Oo! So it does!

I have told people in the past that these forums do get quite alot of search engine spider traffic. This is a lesson in two things:

1) don't ever put your email address in an easily readable form on the forums. Use brackets and proper English to break up the line so it's harder for junk filters to find you.

2) say how great, funny, superb, technical, and hilarious my animations are, because that way I'll get a better hits ranking! smile.gif

See.. you see a negative, while I see a positive. What young recently confirmed Roman Catholic -doesn't- want to remind people of technologically advanced, fish in multiples?

I'm surprised Polycarp hasn't gotten more votes...
