I've noticed that lots of links get posted in Issues threads that are quite useful, but most of them get lost again after a couple of months, even though they are relevant to other debates. To stop all those links going to waste, I propose that we double-post our links - once in the debating thread and once in this thread - to stop them going to waste.

Here are a couple of good sites that I find very useful:

On evolution:
http://www.talkorigins.org

And on religious and moral matters of all sorts, mostly relating to Christianity:
http://www.religioustolerance.org

And always very useful:
http://en.wikipedia.org

"Democracy Now! is a national, daily, independent, award-winning news program… pioneering the largest public media collaboration in the U.S."

There is loads of stuff to read, plus you can listen to, or watch the shows.

A society that takes itself too seriously risks bottling up its tensions and treating every example of irreverence as a threat to its existence. Humour is one of the great solvents of democracy. It permits the ambiguities and contradictions of public life to be articulated in non-violent forms. It promotes diversity. It enables a multitude of discontents to be expressed in a myriad of spontaneous ways. It is an elixir of constitutional health. J.
