So, I was thinking... What would be obscure and quite funny to show up with as a computer (case) at the next LAN party or something? I was pondering a Nintendo (original), which would work... But I don't want to destroy a perfectly good Nintendo...

As the topic says, you've figured out I decided a toaster oven. That started from a four slot toaster which I found probably would be hard to work out.

I started with something similar to this... I didn't take a picture of mine, I didn't think of it until I had it gutted.

Anyway, I'll take pictures of progress (later) because even I'm curious to see it finished smile.gif

I've actually seen a tutorial on how to change an original nes machine into a PC, it was quite cool

Big convection fan.. It's double sided - Sadly too big to work into the oven with computer bits in it.

Gutted.... As you can see I'm making it plug in like the oven would (cord) is now 'permanently' attached.

The back is now looking like a computer! GASP! Dremel... I shattered (kind of dangerous... A few thousand RPM and shattered disk flying everywhere.) and wore down quite a few cutting disks trying to get this the right size.

Always wear eye protectors when using a Dremel. They can be very handy things at times, but when those disks shatter they really do go at a mean pace!

The flying disks make me think of ninja wariors throwing the stars at people.

That's awesome though - a computer toaster oven. Who'duvthunkit?

What would be cool is if it could still function as a toaster when it's done!

But I don't feel like destroying my computer bits... Anyway, old heating elements now support what my motherboard will be mounted on (some more cut metal - I'm just hacking pieces off an old case here :-P) I just need solder. Then I need to figure out how to mount my CD drive and how to put my HDDs in there.

Argh! Your eyes!

You'd have to give me your address for me to send, and it wouldn't come in time. Hmmm... ask a science teacher if they have one you can borrow?

I was just about to suggest Spoon borrow some from his school.

Think it would be possible to make the knobs control fan speeds or such? Would be neat.

Now that I finally got a hold of some good Ti drill bits (my last titanium bit was a JOKE) the motherboard will be mounted, which I'm really crossing my fingers for. After that I'm mounting everything (*snickers* I said mount) and then I need a power cable to replace the one I had on there to experiment with.

I need to toy with switches for power and it should be done and I'll just order some red cathodes and install an OS.

Anyway, pictures!

Tight fit (hehehe) if I wanted the drives in there, so I'm getting external CD to preserve the concept of airflow.

Where the hard drive will probably go.

You'll be wanting to schripp out the insulation there then. Considering the amount of heat hard drives can produce and the tendency for cooking appliances to be designed to keep heat in you could be in for some trouble otherwise. Forced air cooling is all well and good, but a little radiative dissipation never goes amiss.
