Does any one else think they should have a slightly more dramatic chimney for this Pope vote thingy?

This has no religous relavance and is completely based on asthetics. I saw a bit of the news today and they were talking about the voteing for a new Pope and the white smoke, Black smoke thing, and not really having much interest in religion I wasn't paying much attenion but this i did notice.

This is the chimney the catholic world is surposedly watching and Linky! to prove I'm telling the truth.
Right they've been doing this pick a pope thing for a fair few years now so, to my mind surely they'd have this historicly dramatic chimney for people to watch. But no it was a metal stove pipe.
So what does anybody else think? biggrin.gif

Yeah, and it could blow out smoke that spelled "THE POPE HAS BEEN CHOSEN" as airplanes write the new pope's name in the sky.

(If there's that big of a deal made about the death of one, why not a lot of fuss for a new one?)

I think they just appreciate the somewhat rustic charm of it all biggrin.gif
It's a nice counter-balance to their frilly frocks with sequins all over.

Yeah, it should be a massive chimney, made of stone. With gargoyles watching over it.

Or better still, have the smoke coming out of the gargoyles mouth. Or ears. They should let me redesign the Vatican.

Burn The Cath! *Points* Burn The Cath! Heretic! Heretic! Burn The Cath! [Sorry, it had to be done...]

I was really shocked when I saw the chimney - my initial reaction was: 'And that's poking out of the Sistine Chapel!?!'

You really do expect something snazzy with bells on!

*Disappointment*

Or take the Eddie Izzard stance...what happens if they decide to make toast? And it burns? (At toast ALWAYS will.) One pope...no, two popes!...no...!

It's not Catholic enough. It should at least be made out of stone of some kind. There, indeed, should be cherebum and doves adorning said stone chimny. It's the Catholic church, for cryin' out loud. Why can't they go all-out?

I like the idea of smoke blowing gargoyles. Bet the tobacco companies would enjoy that "The new Pope sponsored by Silk Cut"!

I rather like the chimney, it's very minimalist. Perhaps they feel we need to rest our eyes?

I worship you rav! I truly do!

Now that you mention it... I did notice something a tad peculiar! Couldn't quite put my finger on it until now... Hmmm...

I wish the new Pope all the best - even if that involves Mittens eating his brains!

Maybe there's something going on where we can't see.....
