Tips for starting conversations:

Start a conversation, i.e., don't just demand people's attention.

Talk about a film you've seen recently or are looking forward to.

Tell people why you're bored; what is it that you normally do that you can't go and do at the moment?

Post about a book that you've been reading and ask people if they know anything else like it that you might enjoy.

Ask if there are other people out there who like the same bands as you (that sometimes works), what people's favourite tracks by that band are (a better conversation because it involves evaluation and opinions), or if there are other bands that are like them.

Conversation is about two-way exchange. To get results you have to give something from yourself, don't just expect people to pay attention to you when you're not giving them anything. Why should they do that?

*ahem* to educate you on the ways of communication? wink.gif

But then that just shows moral strength, doesn't it? A desire to help one's fellow man tongue.gif

I only say this really because we have had some rather attention-seeking people on here in the past. At one point it got so extreme that a person pretended to have been seriously injured in a car crash. When it was discovered that she was lying there were a lot of hurt feelings. Of course, I'm not suggesting that you were about to claim anything like this, but it's best to not get into that pattern to begin with.

Another great tip is force yourself to write more than a few lines. Currently you've posted twelve times but probably written less words than this single post contains! This said, I've seen your latest post about songs and that's a good start at getting involved with other people. It's an odd skill to have to learn online, but very worthwhile. It takes practise to get good at it, but it is something that you can learn. You've made a start, now keep it up! smile.gif

So much time on your hands, you couldn't take the time to type apostrophes?

They look like this: '

My work here is done. Remember, kids, don't play with fire or pointed sticks, and always eat your vegetables. *dramatic leaping exit out nearest window, followed by dull splat*

The only problem with being an expert on anything, is that, sooner or later, you're bound to make a mistake... Then, everyone you've ever lectured will pounce on it, making it glaringly obvious. I'm a Know-it-all, and I'm not that brave... laugh.gif

Fool! artist.unknown does not make mistakes! That would imply some sort of mortality, which she is clearly lacking.

Usually, whenever I make a post about the need for correct grammar and punctuation, I will always make a mistake. It's just one of those laws of the universe I think: tell people to 'mind the step' then you fall flat on your face.
