I was making some Earl Grey Aromatics and whilst the kettle was boiling, decided to sit on a chair and inhale the smells. It smelt really good and I came to wonder, what would happen if you smoked tea? I think I'll try it this weekend... Just wondered if anyone had tried this before so as not to regret it when I find myself feeling horrible for the next week or so...

I saw the title and thought y'all were talking about the other kind of tea.

This is an odd concept, though I'm sure it's been tried before.I'll ask around. I'm sure someone I know has tried it.

It comes at an interesting time, as I'm right now enjoying spiced tea and shortbread cookies. Yum.

Tea doesnt seem so far fetched as catnip.

I talked to someone once that decided to hollow out a cigar and stuff it with catnip and smoke it. Supposodly it was "just like weed" But I really doubt it.

Really? How did we establish that?

And the picture...

I was on a ferry feeling pretty sick, so amuse myself, I tucked my lips inside and rolled my eyes back and my friend was taking pictures. I'm only pale because of the flash though. Oh yeah, forgot to say. That big pink thing on my mouth is a tongue.

Having, in previous years smoked a variety of things, including tea, grass (that's actual grass as in the stuff that grows on lawns), leaves, dead leaves, coffee, nettles and ground up plastic mixed with other stuff, I have to say that unless you want to be coughing and choking all the time, don't bother.

Well, we tried it. It didn't give much of a high but was very pleasant and I would quite happily do it again. We also tried quite a lot else aswell...

Coffee - This one was very nice. Again, not much of a high but still pleasant.
Sugar - I just ended up with all the sugar in my mouth. Yum.
Grated Chocolate - This was joke. It was quite nice really and damn tastey afterwards too!
Basil - This was perhaps the most successful as after a couple of puffs it slightly clouded your vision which was fun.
Ground Cumin - We smelt it first. It smelt like sweat so we didn't try any further.
Ground Ginger - My friend tried this one first and it practically killed him so I decided not to try.
Ground Cinnamon(sp?) - This one was absoloutly gorgeous. 'Nuff said.

On a similar note (though off topic), that happened once here too, just with speed and paracetamol.

The Romans smoked Bay Leaves to get high.

And we knew this guy who was constantly sold herbs from a dealer and smoked them, when he saw some real cannabis at last he poked it, sniffed it and said "Dude you were ripped off" and proceeded to smoke a spliff of what smelt suprisingly similar to rosemary.

Did you mix those with tobacco, or smoke them neat? Because I can't imagine them rolling up very easily... unless you used a pipe?
