<[authors note: I have nothing against people from Minnisota, and or churches (I'm a church goer myself). Read at your risk (not to mention sanity).]>

I was sitting at a starbucks coffee shop in Barnes n' Noble today waiting for a few friends of mine to show up. As I was sitting there I noticed a table with 3 maps of Minnisota. Being the bored self I was, I started to look at the maps boredly---thinking that my friend would pop up soon.

After a while I came across the section of one of the maps that listed all the churches in St. Paul, Minnisota. Intriged I began to read them, and jotted down a few I found...'amusing'.

Church of the Assumption
my comment: The assumption of what?

Free at Last
my comment: So if the church split (like conservatives and liberals), they named the church that, just because they are happy to get away?

Second Church of Christ Scientist
my comment: wait...where's the first church?

So...What have you learned today?

There is a Church of Christ Scientist in Hendon, London. Maybe that's the first? I always wondered what they meant though... a toga is NOT a lab coat.

I found out that Napoleon I probably died of arsenic poisoning while exiled on St. Helena. While there he took up painting to relieve the boredom, however the paints he used contained the poison. blink.gif

The guy survives numerous battles. He was even hit by a cannonball that broke his arm, but he survived. Then he finally dies because he likes painting flowers. How sucky is that?

Oh yes, look here.

Today I learned about Technu, which prevents poison ivy if you wash with it after touching the plant. It is wonderful.

1. There is also one on Mansfield Road in Nottingham

2. It was the arsenic in the green paint on his wallpaper in the house he was exiled to that gave off poisonous fumes when it was wet that led to his demise.

3. 'Hi' in Czech sounds like 'Ahoy!'

Perhaps so, but useless information may come in handy somewhere down the road. Besides, why not learn something new rather than be stuck with the same old same old? wacko.gif

Just because it's useless doesn't mean that you can't learn it on an unspecified day.

I learned that there is no graceful way to realise that you've just fed a receipt into the metro turnstile.

*click chunk BEEP BEEP BEEP* huh? *push* *HURCK* (feet keep moving, the rest of the body stops) oh. ow. >.< *take dropped ticket from giggling frenchman*

Also, I learned that the Gato train goes no where near Versailles. Only the Vicky train does. It may look like Gato goes on the exact same line, children, but no!

I learned Versailles Palace is closed on Mondays.

I learned rush hour on the metro extends past 7:30.

I also learned French people shun deodorant like the plague.

I learned that zoloft withdrawal really kind of sucks. I also learned that trying to drive while under the influence of said withdrawal is a bad idea.

Edit: I also learned that the withdrawal makes me wonder if any of my posts are coherent because I really can't think right now.

Yeah, it does. If I don't take my Effexor in the morning, by the evening I can feel the absence of it :S

On a brighter note, I learned a lot about contemporary art today. smile.gif

I learned alot about the exploration of the world today...

It's nice to finally have a teacher who doesn't talk in a boring, monotone (is that the right word?) voice.

On chronological order, today I learned:

1) Midnight: drunken confidence does occasionally come in useful
2) 8.30: Boys are stupid (it took me this long)
3)8.45: My mother doesn't know her car reg but expects me to.
4)4.55: I have been putting the till roll in incorrectly at work for a few months now
5) men will be nice to me to get to my mother
6) We have mice. The cat can catch them, but prefers to play with them in my kitchen.

And various other things that aren't really new or astonishing.

The expression, "Mad as a hatter" refers to the fact that hat makers used to use Mercury to cure the pelts used in the process... more than a few of them went insane from Mercury poisoning...

So far today I have learned exactly how obsessed with my exam results my sister it- she is the only person to have sent me a card and is coming to visit tomorrow and says i 'may' have a present- my mother just said I didn't have to pay her back 10 I owe her.
