I just can't imagine how that can be practical. It seems that you would be likely to spill it or something.... Probably would work just fine until you tried to empty it in a public restroom, but that is how life works, eh? It also strikes me as unsanitary, especially if you use it for ten years.

That's why you follow the instructions that are given on the site for sterolizing it by putting it in boiling water for at least 5 minutes.

As for the spilling thing, my guess would be that like anything else practice makes perfect.

It sounds like a good idea, although for the heavy bleeders it could be a little annoying.

Woo hoo, That's my favorite forum woman talking there! To answer your question, no. It is not 'easy' to tell when it is full. However, you get the hang of it because you'll naturally be more paranoid than you need to be. You check it every 4 - 6 hours essentially.

I wouldn't reccomend the rubber one over the silicone one.

Pfft, nothing to be afraid of in this topic. Wimpy men. Glad I'm not one.

I had a look at the site, the FAQ seemed a little suspicious or was that just me? There seemed a bit of emphasis on them proving that it isn't a scam which makes me think that perhaps it is. But if kisah can vouch for them then perhaps I'll recommend it to my female friends.

Umm... that's not the point. Not only do they save money but they are more environmentally friendly and more convenient - you're not going to run out and have to panic about how you're going to ever leave the bathroom let alone get to the shops to get more in time. unsure.gif

i highly doubt that this was the kind of thing mata thought would be in here when he thought this thing up...

matazone, not mooncup.

but i digress. i was thinking about this today: what do the homless or really poor women do when they have their period? and yes, mooncup sounds like an answer...but not so much.

i guess this is a wonderful progress from my mother's beginning when she wore belts with *things* attached, and girls would stand up after class with HUGE 'spots' on their skirts because the belt shifted.

I suspect they revert to way back when woman used to use rags that needed to be cleaned. The adult equivelent of a terry nappy I suppose or your mums 'belt with things attached'. smile.gif

Thank God for progress.

Some people just don't get on with tampons well. My mum is one of them, though she did say the O.B ones Cand bought over for me from the US were very wearable compared to supermarket brand and Tampax. One of the other things that can make it uncomfortable is if the tampon isn't inserted up far enough. Also if you are too dry, i.e make sure ou are actualy bleeding before you put in a tampon. But then again, at then end of the day if you don't feel comfortable using them, or with the thought of using them, then there is no worth trying to force it. Being on is about being as comfy as possible wink.gif

But, if you struggle with other menstrual products, then wouldn't you be more inclined to try it, so that you can use one that works better? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Anyway, while it is technically wider, it's going to curve to fit your particularly girly bits - it's super-flexy, like, umm, can't really think of a similar thing - ooh, you know those posh silicon bendy cake tins you can get? It's like that - a bit floppy.

From simply looking at the mooncup and looking at a tampon, I'd guess that using the mooncup would actually be more comfortable. But then again, I'm speculating wildly, as I don't have girly bits.
