Because you do not want to tell the truth?

Therefore if a person says I'm lying they believe that what they're asking or saying is unreasonable enough that I would want not to tell the truth??

..That makes no sense. blink.gif

There's literally a thousand reasons they might think you are lying: the relationship in question, the issue, your tone, things they've heard, their version of it and on and on. They could be saying any number of things for any number of reasons.

Okay, DLCP.

Your initial question was 'Why would I lie about anything???'. I replied that _you_ would lie because you didn't want to tell the truth. See the first two posts in this thread, to me are refering to you lying or not lying, whereas the third post seems to be referring to someone else telling you that you are lying.

Did you actually lie?

If they thing it's a totally legitamate question and I answer why should they assume instantly that I'm lying.

This whole thing ws triggered by my mum asking me what I'd been doing while out and when I told her she didn't believe me and spend significant time telling me what I had been doing. And she's a sick person.

This is one of those questions thats not really possible to answer. There's 20 million possibilities, each with qualifers. It could be a yes, no, or maybe. Its not polite if I randomly ask you about weight (or whatever). But if I asked a friend something like 'have you been depressed lately, ect' because I was worried about them, thats not rude at all.

Again, 20 million answers for this. If they have issues, if you've lied to them before (most of us have lied to our parents, thats not meant as a jab), or if you even came across irritable about. And thats the short list of options.

The sick part might be an answer to your questions. Or simply that she's your mum and possibly worried about you.

She thinks I'm out having random sex with everyone I know including the gay boys, Nevermind that I haven't actually done any thing of that nature sence 13.8.04 and that I'm not some nympho freak and that it's essentially not allowed in this household.

Hmmm I don't know if I should get involved in this thread or how much I should say.
Well I know for a fact you're telling the truth. I think your mothers assumptions are totally irrational, it's not like you've even seen those guys much lately and doesn't the word "gay" imply certain traits? I don't know how you could convince your mother that you are actually telling the truth other then just sticking to your story.

I could understand from your point of view if it was out of the blue for her not believing you. But since you have in fact had random sex with someone previously which I assume she knows about, then she may well be worried you're doing it again.

Try talking to her about it, but not accusing her of anything.

I wasn't really trying to turn this into a disscusion of my particular issue so much as why should I be more willing to complicate my life, have to remember stories, and the like, No matter what I may have done if I tell the truth strait off then they have that much more time to stop being angry for not knowing and start being not angry from knowing.

And on my mother I don't believe that she believes half her crazy stuff she just reacts and speaks when maybe she shouldn't and I do realise that for the most part she's just being over protective in a misguided way but with the best intentions it just gets annoying.

Further more 13.8.04 was hardly random so much as unplanned and drunken though not bad exept in the way that he hasn't spoken to me sence.
The serious random things I was doing had pretty much stopped with my drug use being before 1.6.03 at least so it has been a long time sence I was just being bloody stupid and dangerous, It seems unfair to me as at the least because I'm practically an adult and her hassling me isn't going to stop or influence me any more.

My mum was convinced that every time I went for a walk with my friend, we were going out for a sneaky cigarette. I live in a little village in the countryside, and there are lots of beautiful walks around here, and she couldn't understand why two 15 year olds would want to enjoy the countryside, sit and talk.
Quite a different thing from your conundrum, but the same in principle except I never have smoked, and still don't want to.

Probably not much help. But it happens to alot of (young) people when their parents get paranoid.

You could always invite her to sleep over as well, or call her every five minutes one night just to reassure her. Usually parents back down if they have some kind of assurance that seems genuine from their kids - so rather than getting mad at her, try to calmly explain to her that you're not doing that because you think it's the right choice or whatever. Then again, I don't know your mom, so I don't know whether that'll work or not. Give it a shot anyway. :)

I find it interesting that you quote 13.08.04 in your posts. Perhaps if it wasn't marked on the calendar she'd leave you alone?

I think anyone who lies to anyone is either scared to admit the truth about whatever it may be, or that they dont want to get in trouble. Sometimes it can even be that they are lying to keep someone from getting hurt or killed.

I know that sometimes people lie with good intentions, however, others lie to keep their ass from getting fried by their parents or grandparents laugh.gif

I know that when some people get scared because they are pregnant, they want abortions... but that is really really REALLY not the way to go.. now if you were raped... i could kind of understand why someone would want an abortion.. however, if it was me, i would rather give birth to the baby and give the baby to a good home rather than having it aborted.

But, it is different for all people in all different situations... i know if i wound up pregnant, my mother would have a damn cow, kick me out of the house and tell me to get a place of my own and raise my own child.. she even said that to me. she said "I have already raised my children and im not raising anybody elses." blink.gif
