LadydarkPeach: We are in the South of France, in the Haute Var region, in the village of Sillans La Cascade, about an hour or so drive from Nice.

Hinsley, we don't have an icecream man, our village has about 400 ppl in it tops....

PIcs and info on our village and house can be found a www.cadhla.com/france recent pics www.cadhla.com/may2003b

Thanks everyone!!

Leopold...I think the weather is generally better anywhere than in England.....except for thw 15 days or so (not in a row) that are nice>;)

Things are going pretty good, we have furniture and dishes and stuff finally....we have a TV but the arial stuck to our house is dead....does't matter nayways cause all we would get is french tv......Anyone know where i can get a universal DVD player in England??? (the kind that can play DVDs from all regions).

Loadsa places sell 'em, cad... Try Richer Sounds, Superfi, Sevenoaks Hi Fi - basically, most of the small hi-fi an video outlets do 'em. At the mo, if ya can find a big enough supermarket (an they ain't exactly thin on the ground in That London area!!) then they do 'em too!

Best to avoid places like Dixons or Currys cos they still won't sell 'em. Stoopid corporate slaves tongue.gif laugh.gif

Thanks Leopold!! We actually found an add in an french paper for a shop in Barjol selling them, they are limited to 100 so hopefully they will have one left when we get there today...now, if i can only figuire out where my husband is....

It's really hard to find Universal DVD players in the US, a friend of mine had to order one from Japan to play all her anime imports.....

No probs honey smile.gif

I guess the reason we're more likely to get the region free players is cos you guys in the US usta get DVD releases (on Region 1) before we'd even get the film in the cinema... so the demand for region 1 capable players kinda skyrocketed...

we're are dourques, the add in the paper said "transcontinental DVD player" Turns out, that is just the brand name...looks like we will be picking one up in England and smuggling it back to France. The guy at the electronics store said they are illegal here...maybe they have some in duty free......

If onle there were Wiggles DVD's in France we wouldn't have to worry about it!!!

Sainsburys do a MiCO Sofia 02A DVD Player thats region-free and supports NTSC format. It's under 100, and it's got rave reviews.

From what the woman at MiCO said, it is only the larger stores that do the DVD Players, TVs, VCRs, etc. and they usually have their own aisle for it all, but i couldn't tell ya, the one in York has them in, but i don't know which are the larger shops or anything.

hmmm, I'll have to check out the one in Maidstone and see what they got, it's been almost a year since I was there, so they may have added to it...i think it's safe to assume the one headcorn does not have them>;)
