Well for this weekend, Happy Thanksgiving to all you Canadians. Happy early Thanksgiving to all the Americans.

I'm off to make pumpkin cheesecake and gingerbread cake today. Yay the mounds of tasty food.

Tell me about thanks giving. I know its something to do with offering peace to people you don't know, then backstabbing them but I don't know the rest.

If you guys were still up and running around 1-2ish then I could have joined in sad.gif

And SPS: Pfft, just still a bit sore from Independance Day thats all.

But seriously, I don't know much about it. For instance I didn't know that Canada celebrated it too.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Thanksgiving.

Hmmm. Seems like we have this talk every year when Brits are wondering exactly where it came from! You all pay attention this year, so we don't have to have the same chat next year. tongue.gif

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving, Canadians. smile.gif

I think in Canada it's just a harvest festival. A good excuse to gather friends and family, say thanks for whatever good is happening, and eat a very large meal featuring turkey or ham. smile.gif

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians.

It's based on a historical feast, though, much like the American one. Just one that happened in Canada instead of in America (tis explained in the Wikipedia link). wink.gif

Happy [Canadian] Thanksgiving!

This has to be one of those times where you pat yourself on the back for having attracted migratory Canadian friends. Mmmm.. squash.

I think I was reading in the paper that the first Thanksgiving feast was celebrated to thank God for the fact that the then Prince of Wales had recovered from a serious illness. Nothing much to do with the first nations people at all. Though it's good that they weren't scalping the Hudson's Bay company voyageurs. smile.gif

I'll probably have a look at the Thanksgiving site though as it sounds like an interesting read.
