So for the past year or so I've been using just regular old sound recorder that comes standard with windows to record random bits of funny-ness and edit it a bit. But now I want to acctually record stuff thats longer than 60 seconds....

I really dont need anything fancy, just something that will record a few minutes worth of crap. I'm also broke so take that into account tongue.gif

Anyone have any suggestions?

I use Cool Edit Pro, but that's one you have to pay for. It's got lots of cool effects though!

I'm quite fond of Audacity, personally. It's free and runs on Mac OX X or Windows. It supports multiple tracks and has a lot of nifty features.

I've only tried the Mac version but I'd assume the windows one is extremely similar.

Heh ^^ Acctually I got Cool Edit Pro and havent really gotten to mess around with it much, though compared to the few minutes I spent on Audacity its seems like I'd be able to do alot more editing and such on Cool Edit....

I just havent had anything I've felt like recording as of late, so I havent messed around with it other than "Oh, so this is the record button? AHh, it works. Good"

It's got some lovely effects on there, and the pro version has a built in multitrack thing where you can layer on different single track samples then drag them around by right clicking on them, adjust their volumes... Loads of stuff!

The tip-of-the-day things are worth reading, and it's worth having a look at the basic tutorials just to get you started.

I've stayed out of this, simply because I'm used to using industry standard audio applications which cost an arm and a leg.

...I just felt I had to post that. tongue.gif

Go on then, let's hear what they are. We won't use them, but there's no such thing as wasted knowledge (to paraphrase Socrates).

What if its something that will benifit you in no way shape or form?
Such as what books Copernicus wrote during his life....
'Except that one would have benifited me *mutters about AP Euro tests*

It is nifty to know what kind of software is out there though tongue.gif
