Ok, so in Amsterdam I saw this and thought of you guys.

Whole image.
A Close Up.

Oh it was a Gay Coffeeshop btw, didn't matter as everyone in there was a bit too monged out to make a plausible attempt at a pull of any kind.

Anywho, I remember a few mentions of some Matazone related shops or places around the world, if you're lucky enough to live near them then I encourage pictures (or we wont believe you).

Stories and descriptions would be nice too.

How exactly like Snowdrop is it? If it's breaking copyright then some more information would be appreciated because I'll need to contact them, but just looking fairly similar wouldn't count.

On topic:

I was in Southend-On-Sea over Christmas, and currently it is covered with posters advertising a club night called 'Mata Boo Boo'!

Here's the only page I could find about it:

http://www.dontstayin.com/uk/southend-on-s.../22/event-16482

And here's a picture of the club's banner, taken by someone on that site:

I can see a few Aztec symbols in the banner, an Aztec club where the bouncers wear Jackal masks?

There was that one place in Nottingham with Mata in the title...some sort of computer place? I think Mata was shown it at the second meet there. Wasn't there a picture taken in front of it as well, or am I just remembering things I thought happened when I was slightly tipsy?

'Mata Software', or something along those lines. Pics were taken but I looked even less photogenic than usual so I decided to not share those ones. Usually I don't mind a couple of bad pics of myself, but I really looked dreadful in them!

I cheated! I typed Mata into my search bar and got

http://www.matatransit.com/

Seems as though Mata stands for Memphis Area Transit Authority....
I've never been to Memphis <.<

Yes, I think it was an Indian restaurant in Kings Cross, if my memory is still working in this cold weather.

My aunt came back from Portugal (where she lives and works) for Christmas, and on her packet of cigarettes, it said "Smoking kills" in Portuguese. The Prtuguese word for kill is "mata".

I thought you'd like to know that biggrin.gif

I thought it was Spanish that has 'Mata' meaning to kill... It's also apparently slang for Death (as in the Grim Reaper). I didn't know that when I started using the name!

In Portugese I think 'Mata' means 'jungle', and 'Matazone' means 'an area of jungle'. It's possible I've got my languages confused, but it's equally possible that the warning was printed in Spanish.

Matar means "to kill" in both Spanish and Portuguese (I checked freetranslation.com for the Portuguese). When conjugated as saying a particular thing kills (like smoking, or your Aunt Polly, or also the formal version of "you"), it becomes mata in Spanish. I can only assume it's the same in Portuguese, because I don't know Portuguese personally and have no idea how the verbs conjugate. The two languages are often quite similar though, so it's not surprising.

*edit* Aha, I checked again on freetranslation.com, and they do both conjugate so that mata = he/she/it/you(formal) kills. In Spanish it can also be used as a command (like, matalo = kill him), but I have no idea if it's the same in Portuguese.

Yep, Ashbless, I found an Italian named The Other Side opposite the Thameslink entrance to Kings Cross station, if I remember correctly. You're putting words in my mouth, Mata, I was thinking it was an Indian, untill I looked back.

When I was in Portugal in the summer, the fag packs had summit like 'Mata Fumar' on 'em.

I remeber seeing this kids eating set a while back. Kekeke

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the Ikea dining set! Well, King's Cross isn't a great area, but it's very convenient for the tube and train links. Maybe we should do that in the new year. Can people afford a meal, or would it be best to stick with pubs where people have the option to eat or not?

(Woah for acually eating Spag Bol as I type.)

Ok, listen to this guys. How about a London Underwear Meet, where everyone wears and shows off their favourite undies! *just bought some new boxers*

Err... That's a rather surreal theme. I'm not sure if people really want to see my undies! (And vice versa, of course.)

Well, Mata, you'll be pleased to know that last week as my bioethics study group was googling genetic engineering, the number one turnup for "mutated chicken" was Matazone.

I just about wet myself laughing, but nobody else understood.
