Blah.. apparently it has been decided to close the london planetarium, and replace it with more wax works of celebrities. I think this is absolutely awful.. but meh, I won't get into that.

Basically they're going to be closing it, most likely by the end of this year. If you want to see it, go soon. I certainly recommend it, even if you only have a passing interest in the sky at night, just go, I promise you'll be in awe!

(P.S living far away may be excused if you send a note)

It is a sad comment on modern culture that we choose models of celebrities over learning about the stars and planets.
I will most definitely go to see it at some point. I have a Blue Peter badge, so I might even get in free!

I grew up in London, and I have fond memories of the Planetarium, along with the Natural History Museum, the London Transport Museum and later the Imperial War Museum. All great places, hope they don't get turned into waxworks sad.gif

I went a couple of times when I was a child but have very few memories of it. I'll definitely give it a try to go again before it shuts and gets turned into another generic 'aren't celebrities wonderful' location.

Technically won't you still be looking at stars? Ok bad jokes aside, that is ashamed. Do I send my excuse note to you or to the planetarium for not going?

Send your excuse notes to myself, I'll need to look them over then store them in your matazone permanant record.

Anyone know if there is a petition or anything? I went for my birthday a few years ago and have been dying to go back ever since. How dare they get rid of something so AWESOME just to replace it with more gods awful celebrity worshipping nonsense? You want that, you go to Madame Tusauds (sp?)! There were a couple of wax figures there, granted... of ASTRONAUTS. God damn.

I would love to go, I will put it on my wishlist of things to do this year! smile.gif

On a personal note - I think its disgusting to replace it with some people who are in the 'public' eye, I personally don't care for seeing a waxwork of a movie or music star.

Personally, I think you should only be able to get into Madam Tussauds when you're dead, and they should scrap all of it apart from the House of Horror, the history bit and the Rock Circus.
