On another forum I frequent, we did a karaoke sing along to the song Build Me Up, Buttercup by The Foundations, and as this was pretty sucessful there, I wondered how many people would be interested to do something similar here.

It would involve anyone who wished to participate recording themselves singing it then sending them all to one person to edit together, but it sounds pretty good, here's the other one as an example.

But, first things first, has anyone got any suggestions for what song we should sing?

To startle and amuse Mata we could sing that version of Jesus loves me someone filked.

"Mata loves us this we know, 'cause the forums tell us so. All our souls to him belong. We are weak while he is strong."

Okay, I'm done. Wandering away again.

I'd be up for that, but you'd have to pick a song I knew and/or liked tongue.gif

Although I'd imagine it could get interesting with a variety of tempos and keys...

Yep! In the the Build Me Up, Buttercup, the very last sung line is in a completely different key. But generally if you listen to your line several times before recording it you should get it alright. rolleyes.gif

How are we to decide which song to do?

We could have an Audioscrobbler fight and then poll for the top five.

Wouldn't really work all that well. If you look at the current top tracks, the number 1 was listened to by a whole four people. And it's not even Something Corporate's best song.

Even if we asked everyone to listen to whichever track they want us all to sing, there's still only 39* people in the matazone group and a good proportion of them will either not see this post or choose not to take part.

Also: MEMBERSHIP DRIVE! Hey, folks. Sign up to the Matazone group over at last.fm! The more of you who sign up, the more accurate a representation of these forums the charts are!

*Hey, two more people have joined since I last looked. Hello Bompity and WednesdayCafe.

Hmmph.

Matazonians, un-diversify your music tastes. Do it now.

(also, I'm signing up for the group, having had a last-fm account for all of four days now. That'll bring it to a nice round 40.)

I, personally have damn near perfect aural to oral repetition skills tongue.gif But I know what you mean.

Maybe find out in this thread who's willing to take part, everyone who wants to take part suggest a few songs, and then we have a vote?

I'm not willing to take part because I never sing in front of people.

But I still think the song should be "F*ck her Gently."

I'm willing to spoil all of your eardrums and I think that F*ck her Gently is a good choice of song too.

I'll sing but it won't be in tune.

And as I suggested it, I too think F*ck Her Gently would be good.

For anyone who has not heard "F*ck her Gently" (and because the animation cracks me up)

Warning: the following link contains naughty language and animated depictions of sex! It is probably not suitable for the younger crowd: Animation!

I'm up for the challenge. Why not? I'm even willing to do F*ck Her Gently, if that's what we decide on (though I'll have to try to keep from cracking up if that's the one tongue.gif).

But why does it have to be the same song for everyone? Are we going to compile it all into one big Matazone choir when we've all done it?

*Edit
Nevermind, re-read the first post. That's what I get for posting half-asleep.

If I post the lyrics to the song then people can take lines they want. I'll wait a bit longer though, although F*ck Her Gently has the majority vote, I'm guessing.
