I don't know if this is a common problem or just something I'm experiencing, but just yesterday I noticed that when I clicked inside my browser, the cursor stayed and started to blink, like in a word processing program. Anyone know what it is and how to fix it? It's not bad or anything, just really annoying. I've done a system restore and re-installed Firefox.

Not a pressing problem, just curious. Ta.

I've not seen that before. Have you installed any new extensions recently?

Not recently, no. My extension list is as follows: Define Word, IE View, BugMeNot, Tabbrowser Preferences, Download Embedded, Gmail Manager, and Fasterfox. Fasterfox is the newest out of them all and I've had them before this all started. It's a perplexing thing.

Edit: Apparently I had turned on caret browsing by pressing F7. Amazing what you can find when you search the MozillaForums, isn't it? Sorry about that. Thanks for the help, Mata!

Mouse gestures is just about the best thing ever created:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/39/

There are a few options for mouse gesture controls in FireFox, but this is definitely my favourite. It allows you to do various actions (next page, previous page, open new tab, etc) by holding down the right mouse button and drawing a line onscreen. It doesn't sound revolutionary, but once you get used to it then you'll be cursing any system that doesn't have it installed!

IE view:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/35/

Sadly, there are occasional websites that don't work with FireFox. Odean cinemas' website used to be one of these (although I think they've had a redesign recently to fix this). IE View gives a quick right-click menu option to view the page in Internet Explorer. This also serves the function of reminding you how awful IE is during the times that you need to use it!

I Shall Not Fear!

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1645/

Adds the function to have The Litany Against Fear from Dune appear in a pop-up box whenever you need it! Okay... Perhaps that one's not so essential! biggrin.gif

You are using the right-hand mouse button to draw with aren't you?

I wonder, how do mouse-gestures work on a Mac with their holier-than-thou single button mouses?

Hmm, generally CTRL+Click or holding the button acts as a right mouse click. On the Macbooks having 2 fingers on the pad and clicking acts as right click too (2 fingers on the pad is also used like a 2 dimensional scrollwheel).

At least 2 of those would still work with mouse gestures.

Ah... That sounds moderately annoying...

BTW, I was only teasing about the single button mouse thing; I really rather like Macs smile.gif
