For the last few nights I happen to notice that Google.com have been listed as on the forum and tonight we`ve also been visited by Ask Jeeves.
I think the no-swearing,ect. rules make for a nice friendly place here, so perhaps they are just looking to see how its done!
I was wondering just how usual such visits are, and do other members have any thoughts about this?

I thought there was pretty much always one of the search engine bot thingies there. They're pretty frequent. There's another one called HotBot, as I recall.

They're pretty common, actually. From what I've gathered, they are basicly gathering information to go on to the search engines.

As far as my thoughts on it, it doesn't really bother me, to be honest. In fact, they helped us out quite a bit when we were trying to make it known to the whole internet how much Mata's old Host/Server people sucked. tongue.gif

Google and Yahoo spider bots are constantly crawling my site, usually 24/7. As I type this, only two are in my shop (which is the easiest place for me to check on such things), but this means that there's probably at least four or five in the forums somewhere.

... Which is why I always say to people that they should never type their full email address on this forum - you will get picked up by the search engines and you will get spammed.

And yes, my old hosting company really did suck! Wasn't it called Hosting Boy, or something like that? Man, they were awful!

Steadfast Networks kick serious arse! They are fantastic, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone smile.gif

Thanks for your replies.
I see Google and Hot Bot are there tonight, so it does appear to be a regular thing, I just hadn`t noticed before.
I`ve seen Google viewing profiles - feels a bit like the customs inspector going through your smalls !
