I want to finally see what the spread of people are among the main three we learn in school.
If people want to passionately defend their personal favorite among the three go for it smile.gif. I think it's fun too watch people get all emotional over why they prefer one of the sciences over another (sure makes a nice change from discussion of music genres and bands.. *stares at a noose contemplatedly*).

I thought about adding an 'other' option for people aching to say geology or sociology (my personal favorite would be astronomy). But then I envision almost everyone ticking other and no one bothering to say what 'other' is in the post. Or worse yet, having to make a poll for every last science I can think of at the moment. Those are both unattractive options to me so I'll stick to just the main three from school.

This post is in daft... don't make it too serious.. I require personal amusement.. daft reasons for liking your options very much encouraged!

My personal choice is enevitably giong to be physics.. all cool things in the world eventually come back to physics.

Dooms day machines? Physics!
Mad Scientists? Physics!
Lasers? Physics!
Giant robots that destory Japan? Physics, physics, physics!!

It's all about the physics when you want machines with fantasical names too. Atom smasher, particle accelerator, and super symmettric string theory! For sure, chemistrys fun to make a few fire works, and if you want guts to spill out of a zombie then biology is useful I guess. But if you want grade A, robot stomping, laser gun shooting, atomic bombing, then it's all about the physics!

I dare you to try and say different.

I chose biology, basically because the options I would have chosen had you put Other would fit best under biology. As of right now Sociology and Psychology are fun fun. Social Science for teh win.

we had integrated sciences at school as such my understanding is that the periodic table is one that folds away when not in use, that physics is what makes cola bubbly and that a catalyst is a moggy on a slope.

My favourite science would have to be paleo biology/botany gotta love thunder lizards and thunder plants right.

Acid? Fire? Blowing stuff up?

Chemistry for the win!

I will present you with two images. The battle of the sciences is as easy as:

THIS

versus

THIS

Chemistry is the clear winner.

(biology doesn't count because it is all about dull Punnet Squares and calculating how many bees are in a field at any given moment.)

I'm sorry, but I think the following image proves once and for all that physics is the clear winner:

A quick GIS for "physics" gives us this and this (images linked 'cos they're big).

I rest my case.

Chemistry is more fun. I love the way it works. I only believe in half the physics we're taught and biology is just learning facts and less initiative.

Chemistry.

Because at school me and my friends used to take great delight in putting many substances into a huge bottle of acid that we'd "borrowed" from the teachers desk. biggrin.gif

And also my insane desire for adding wayyy too much mixture to my experiments so that they would either blow up or overflow, great entertainment that was.

Chemistry is the ultimate science, as practically everything to do with life, our environment and our daily lives comes down to it. The transfer of electrons, the mechanism of respiration in our cells, the synthesis of household products such as bleach and soap, the extraction of metals to make aeroplanes, cars and other such things.

So, yeah, Chemistry FTW.

Felander, I think you might find that at least some of the things you mentioned are actually physics. As much as I hate to agree with whoever it was who said this to me (possibly Novander); it's all physics when it comes down to it.

Even so, I pick Chemistry. It was my favourite at school (even though I practically failed it - I failed all the exams but got 100% in the practicals) and c'mon, who can resist making things blow up or burn?

It's all about chemistry...

*nods*

snoo is right, it all comes down to physics.

And you're all going on about blowing stuff up, but with physics you get to build things, and then smash them. That's just as good.

I picked physics. I haven't learned anything to do with chemistry yet, and we're doing biology now. It's kinda dull. I took a rocketry corse last semester and it was fun.. making things fly into the air... and then go BOOM!

My experience with chemistry is skewed because of having a horrid, mean teacher. I think it would be physics for me, but I'm not a very sciencey person.

And elphaba, come on! It's a sine curve! What is more exciting than that?! tongue.gif

I have to say Chemistry is my favourite. Why? Because of really cool gaseous experiments and my friend's penchant for mixing everyone's failed experiments together and then leaving the boiling tube "somewhere" for our teacher to find at a later date!

To the tune of I will survive
At first I was afraid I was petrified
That I would blow up all the science block with me inside,
But as the flames began to rise
I could see before my eyes
That I was gone
Oh yes was gone!!
So go on now go!
Walk out that door
Just turn around now
Or you might fall right through the floor
So you felt like mixing chemicals
With illegal substances
And thought that you would see the day
When it would just make a fizz!!

I loved Chemistry

Chemistry.
Biology is, according to my old chem teacher, is "As though a scientist has explained chemistry to someone who has never studied science, who then explains it to someone else, who then becomes a biology teacher".

Physics, although devastatingly fascinating, contains too much maffs and makes my brain hurt.

I do enjoy the physics side of chemistry, though; electron subshells, polarisation and the like.

Chemistry. Hmm. I mean, as Daria says, the Physics side of the subject is fascinating, it's the Physics side. The main draw to Chemistry seems to be OH LAWD I CAN MAKE FINGS BANG LOL.

Physics, on the other hand, especially Theoretical Physics, is much more interesting to me. Just is.

That said, actually practising science doesn't interest me in the slightest. Sorry. Not that kind of geek.

JERUSALEM, Israel (AP) - In response to Israel's denial of water to the West Bank, HAMAS released three cheetahs in West Jerusalem, where they went on a killing spree, mauling four Jews and injuring thirteen.

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - Following a cheetah attack on West Jerusalem perpetrated by the majority HAMAS party, the Israeli Air Force retaliated by detonating twenty kiloton nuclear devices over Gaza City, Jenin, Nablus, Rafah, and Ramallah.

ASHDOD, Israel (AP) - As a result of the atomic bombings of five Palestinian cities, a 50-foot tall reptile has woken from its million-year slumber in the Mediterranean Sea. The monster has made landfall at Ashdod and obliterated the city. Eyewitnesses report that the monster left the destroyed city heading southeast.

Physics , mostly because I like mechanically things. Mind you, slopping about with potions does have an air of mystery.
