I started thinking about Matazone randomly today! And I remembered, this is the site that got me hooked on to forums in the first place. I've spent the last two years in the abysmal caverns of the internet's transit forums... it's time to go back to my roots. D:

Good to see you again. What's been going on in your life?

I've had a break up and got a new girlfriend, and started working in Oxford. I'm still a game designer (I worked on Aliens Versus Predator which is coming out all over the world this week!). I went on a cruise in the far east and so finally got to visit China and Japan, which I've always wanted to do. I'm really looking forward to going back to Japan, it's a wonderful place.

Thinking about it, that's not actually a huge amount for the last two years... Umm... I learned basic fencing and rockclimbing, and I've found a new martial arts club to train Wing Chun with.

It's had bad moments, but overall it's been a very good couple of years.

I've finished high school and I've been in and out of internships. Right now I'm in college and plotting a subtle political shift in the student government.

I want to do something like you did, Mata, something exciting that will really take me away from things and gain a new perspective.

The best thing for getting perspective for me was going to the Burning Man festival. It's only a week long, but it really helped me focus on who I wanted to be, who I was, and it reassured me that there are plenty of people out there living weird and interesting lives so there's no need to stress if your one doesn't fit the common pattern.

What are you studying at college?

I'm studying a discipline called Urban Studies. It's redundant, I know ;D

I'm really concerned about life in the cities. I'm from a less than desirable part of the city and I know that needs to change. I see so much potential in what my community can become but there isn't anyone with the faith and the drive to change things. I figure by going to school, I can learn ways to improve the community.

I've got two more years to go. Part of the course involves an internship, which I'm hoping will be relevant to social work, the environment, or transportation. I've already done a few things in that field but I'm always itching to do more.

Oh dear, this is a bit embarrassing.

I totally accept being an asshole, and all the hissing is entirely justified. Looking back through my posts on this board is pretty cringe-inducing.

As you probably worked out, I was a dumb 12-year-old kid when I joined this forum, and due to being both dumb and 12 years old I figured the smartest thing to do would be to pretend to be an adult on the internet. That might go some way to explaining why JimiJimi was such an immature prick all the time...

So now I'm going to apologise for all the assholey things I've done, particularly the Green Day rant (which I still remember as a prime example of me being a really annoying kid with crazy ADHD) and anything else you guys can remember. I'm sorry and I promise I'm not a douche anymore (not to mention that I listen to some music that's far more questionable in taste than Green Day).

I'm now 20 (and hopefully less of an immature asshole), I'm in my second year of uni, making films and electronic music and that. My name really is James though, and I do have long hair, that much was true! I look like this (I'm the guy on the left).
